Wrong board.
Re: GET YOUR MILK AND BREAD!
I'd be more worried if a hurricane is coming, but this is winter so snow is expected.

I don't think the likelihood of a hurricane in St. Louis is anything to be worried about... ever. In fact I'd have to go ahead and say it's completely impossible.

The last hurricane that hit the USA back in September of 08, came right up and hit us as a tropical storm...or was it not classified as a tropical storm?

Roads are fine (main ones). My work is closed but I came in anyways since I will get stuff done that has been put off for a while.

The roads were packed down in Belleville, but the farther I got North the roads were fine. My job site is shut down, except for office personel, so here I sit at work.

Re: GET YOUR MILK AND BREAD!
I was surprised SIUE closed campus today. The roads weren't that bad. It was sleeting pretty good this afternoon for a couple hours...so maybe that's what they saw coming.
Meh...paid day off...fine by me.

44 BLEW, especially right at 270, and I don't think anybody did anything to any downtown streets. I so don't want to deal with this shit again tomorrow.

Re: GET YOUR MILK AND BREAD!
As memory serves me, Ike was only gusting 75 when it hit that area. To be a hurricane it has to be sustained winds of at least 75. It should have been more accurately termed a tropical storm.
Of course it's a long way inland and in order to maintain growth, it has to be over warm (80+ F) water, so it's naturally going to weaken significantly by the time it gets up to Missouri. The fact that it was still blowing that hard is a testament to how big a storm it was.
