Legends of Wrestlemania game
Wrasslin' ruled in the 80's. I found a local game store that was willing to break the street date, so I picked it up this evening. The game is awesome, even though Macho Man Randy Savage was excluded. At least Ric Flair is in the game. Was anyone else looking forward to this game?
Re: Legends of Wrestlemania game
I was thinking of buying this. I havn't played a fighting type game in ages. Plus I am getting tired of not being able to hit in RTTS...

No way, N64 wrestling games were way better. You had WCW vs. NWO Revenge and Wrestlemania 2000. The two best wrestling games ever made sans Pro Wrestling from the mid-80s (for nostalgic purposes alone).Mellanby_equals_grit wrote:Man I loved the old wrestling games on Super Nintendo.. And with that roster line up I might have to get this game.

Re: Legends of Wrestlemania game
I played it last night. The game is ok. The controls are a little wonky as the've made some changes to the Smackdown control scheme that really only made things worse to me. The incessant use of quick time events is highly annoying. These events existed in Smackdown, but they're heavily relied upon in Legends. There are too many of them, and sometimes they simply make no sense in the context of the situation prior to being triggered.
All that said, the relive/rewrite modes of gameplay are pretty cool. It's something new for the genre. I thought wrestling games were the most stale genre of games in terms of innovation, and so this is a nice addition.
Having thought about it, I think the biggest mistake was not having Randy Savage and/or Ricky Steamboat. Their match at one of the early Wrestlemania's (don't know which) was and probably is still considered one of the greatest matches ever by pro wrestling fans. Who knows, maybe that'll be released as DLC. It simply doesn't make sense to omit those two if DLC isn't being created.
Like I said; it's a fresh title for the genre. I don't think it's worth dropping $60, but I'll probably pick it up down the line once it hits the $20 - $25 range.

Vince McMahon wouldn't allow Macho Man to be in the game, although there are people making kick-ass create-a-wrestler templates for him.Mark wrote:I played it last night. The game is ok. As long as Koko B Ware is in the game I can't complain.
But, that is just a great list of wrestlers that are on this game.

Re: Legends of Wrestlemania game
Also a note about the controls. A lot of people who have played some of the newer Wrestling games have commented that the control scheme isn't very good. The controls in this game are made to be easy to pick up and play, which is a good thing. It's all about nostalgia, and a lot of people (like me) who will buy this game aren't really up on the newer controls for wrestling games. I do think that an option to switch to more advanced controls would have been welcome for those who are familiar with the SVR franchise.
The game is easy to pick up and play, but some of the more advanced moves do take some time to master.
