Rivs playoff thread

Post by blueline »

May not get many responses. But hey it's worth noting. Rivs hold on for a 6-4 win. Houston scores 3 in the third but Legace held on with 27 saves and Yan Stasny who played great scores twice along Paddock, Regier, Danny Richmond (late season trade with WBS for Wosnewski) and Talbot I believe. Plenty of others contributing with assists. Still early but the Rivs came out with a purpose. I am sure Davis Payne will have them more focused in the 3rd. Petrangelo was a -1 this evening. He goes from Juniors to AHL playoffs. He still is fun to watch. Houston is known to be explosive in the 3rd. Should be a good series.

Rivs 2-0 loss to even the series 1 apiece. Legace really played great tonight. First two periods were up tempo defensive minded periods. 28 shots total for both teams. Junland didn't cover his backside and a pass was kicked to the slot on a 2 on 2 rush and Junland didn't have position for the first goal with 10 seconds left in the first. The 2nd goal came early in the 3rd. The rookie Petrangelo did his best on a odd man rush. Smothering Defensive game. Houston's netminder played lights out for the most part. We had our chances but seemed a step off or a stick length away from the great play. I would think the Rivs will make adjustments on the bus ride to St. Louis tonight. They fly out at 6am. Game time 7:35 tommorrow night.

Game 3 loss 2-1 on Saturday night. Corey Locke scores two on the Power Play. Regier gets one called off late in the second. Again another smothering Defensive game. Houston goes up 2-1 in the series.

Stasny isn't playing tonight. He has been called up for game 4 in St. Louis? Rivs up 4-2 late in the 3rd.

Rivs take a 2-0 lead deep into the 3rd only to find themselves losing in OT. It started when Junland takes a delay of game penalty when clearing the puck. Momentum shifted and they scored on the PP. less than a minute later they tie it up and send it into OT. Houston was 2for10 on the PP and Peoria was 2for8. Rivs back at home Saturday night to even the series and force a game 7 Monday night we hope.....

Rivs win 2-1 and force a game 7. Standout performance for Legace. Jonas Junlad was scratched for game 6. He should sit out game 7 to. We need more speed and discipline on the D side. should be a great game 7.

Rivs lose game 7. But I enjoyed Petrangelo while he was here. He shows a lot of poise and can learn a lot playing with the Blues next season. He stepped in and played all seven playoff games. Jonus Junland was a scratch the last two games. Junland IMO is a full season or so away from being able to play in the NHL. Pelujsha looked good and given a whole season I can see him put up some numbers. I would suspect that him and Lars Eller will get a full year here in Peoria next season if Eller doesn't make the Blues roster. Strachen's time with the Blues this season gave him a huge edge during the playoff series. He is a different player then when he left. Although a lot of time in the press box he certainly learned a lot at practice. I can see him fighting for the last D spot in training camp. Goodbye Woywitka? From what I can observe, our Euro players take time to transition into the AHL speed and physical play.

Certainly a great season for the Rivermen and I look forward to next year already....
