Projected Lines For 09-10 Season...

Post by illownyou »

Are we anticipating a D pairing of TJ Fast and Bryce Lampman? If so, then :cup:

Seriously though, we should expect to see pretty much more of the same as last year, no? Except for guys returning from injury. I don't expect to see any new rookies on the team this season.

Who is going to be the 6th defeseman, since in spite of JD's assurances, Brewer won't be starting the season? Thank the hockey gods for small favors.

Forwards aren't going to change much.
Kid line - Oshie-Berglund-Perron
Vet line - Boyes-MacDonald-Steen
Vet line 2 - Tkachuk-Kariya-Crombeen
Yellow line - Winchester-McClement-King/Janssen

Mix and match those vet lines all you want, including moving King up or down with Crombeen.

Defense
Johnson-Colaiacovo
Jackman-Polak
Weaver-whomever steps in.

Unless he completely stinks it up in camp or someone else really plays over their head...I think it's pretty safe to assume Petro will be on the team next season.

I would flip around the defense so that Coliacovo and Johnson are split up.

If our kid line can match or improve on last year then the Blues actually have a rather scary offense.

Hopefully we won't have any sophomore slumps on our hands.

I also think we need to give Kariya someone better then Tkachuk and Crombeen to work with. Those two middle lines need some tweaking.

That said, this is Andy Freaking Murray, so the odds of any line staying together for more then 30 minutes is about zippo.

I think Kariya's going to get another stab at getting a 20+ goal season and he'll get put with McDonald and Boyes, adjusted as the year goes on. I think putting Backes with Tkachuk and Steen gives you a more powerful line all around then having Kariya with them. The possibly bad side-effect is that Backes might be scoring fewer goals without a good set-up guy on his line with him. We'll see how it shapes up but your basic outline was a good one I think.

And I don't think King will be getting many nods this year. Janssen all the way.

Petro will make the team out of camp. I put Jackman as the 5th though that is likely wrong.

Do not put Tkachuk at center. He doesn't score as a center and actually plays better when on LW.

How could I miss Backes?

Does it really matter? Murray will change the lines every 4 games and switch them up multiple times through out the game anyway. And yeah Tkachuk should be at LW, we have to play Tkachuk at center though, unless you switch him and Backes.

Maybe like..
Tkachuk-Mcdonald-Boyes
Kariya-Backes-Steen
Oshie-Berglund-Perron
Winchester-Mcclement-Janssen/King/Crombeen

I really do like those lines a lot. Looks pretty money to me, but like I said before it doesn't really matter anyway.

Swapped Berg and Walt today in practice. Berg/Oshie/Winchester were pretty good Saturday.

If any of the kids, the ones that are actually on the horizon: Eller, Palushaj, Sonne, end up tearing it up in Peoria, it would be nice to see them getting some time towards the end of the season. Not if it's because they're out of the playoff hunt though.

Sooner or later they're going to have to slide these kids into the lineup or trade someone.
