metro link
Where would be the best place to hook up with the metro link coming from the west? parking, safety, etc.

Re: metro link
I always went to North Hanley if you're headed to Scottrade. Bit of a ride, but you also get to avoid all the post-Blues traffic.

I hate Metrolink. It takes forever, and after sporting events, it's crowded as hell.
I drive, and park a few blocks away from Scottrade. Hwy 40 is right there and since I'm a few blocks away from Scottrade, there isn't any traffic leaving the games.
When I lived in Fairview Heights, I could be back home in 15-20 minutes. If I took Metrolink, it would take me almost an hour to get back.

Re: metro link
I like the metro link for the reason that it takes me 1 hour to get home. When I get to go to a game I like to drinks the beer. So I enjoy that extra hour sobbering up before I get in my car.cprice12 wrote:I hate Metrolink. It takes forever, and after sporting events, it's crowded as hell.

If you walk a few blocks and don't get on the metro link right at Scottrade you can get a seat. I assume it's the same if you walk closer to the riverfront?
You could make it home to Fairview in 20 mins if you drive? You must run out of there. I guess since I don't get to go to many games I like to take my time and savor it.

Once I was in my car, it took about 20 minutes to get home...so that doesn't include walking to my car...which was about six or seven minutes...something like that. And like I said, there was no traffic, none. I drove a few blocks and I was on Hwy. 40 right away.abc789987 wrote:I like the metro link for the reason that it takes me 1 hour to get home. I just prefer driving over taking Metrolink. It's quicker and I liked listening to Kerber on the post game show on the drive home too.

Re: metro link
I agree with driving and not using the link.
That said, with two murders in one week in my usual parking lot has me exploring my options (though I'm leaning towards purchasing a parking pass for the garage) I'm usually one of the last ones out of the building so the traffic isn't that big of a deal to me.
When I do ride the link, I use Hanley as well.

Re: metro link
Yikes on the murders.
I usually park 2-3 blocks away on the street and walk. I've only had one bad experience so far, when I was parked on a side street and my car was broken into. I actually like going on the metrolink, but I really don't have the time on a school night. If I use metrolink, I park at Shrewsbury (usually easy to get a seat on that line) , and once I make it there, I have to drive another 10-15 minutes. So, I'm losing a good half hour+ depending on how long it takes for the train to actually arrive.

Re: metro link
When we go to games we usually park down by the fire house, 2 or 3 blocks away. Nice walk, kinda sucks in colder weather, but no complaints. But I know when I took the Metro to Cards games, I would run down to the "Civic Center" station and get on there and ride it back to Illinois. After Cards game it really sucks to try to get on the train.
