Blues sign Derek Armstrong

Post by Jeffro »

As per Andy Strickland.

It's a two way deal, which has nothing to do with his waiver status. It just means he gets paid less in Peoria than here.

You didn't laugh when I posted it for Belfour, but maybe you'll laugh now?

I assume he was picked up as a veteran presence and an "on-ice coach" for Peoria, who lost Whitfield and Regier. But, I worry a little, as he's a friend of Murray's (coached him at L.A.). He's 36, and didn't play much in L.A. last season (scoring 9 points). I hope Murry doesn't play him in The NHL (pushing Steen and Winchester onto scoring lines, and keeping Eller in Peoria.

From what I can remember, Armstrong was always a 3-line/4-line scrapper. I really don't think we have a place for him on the roster. Welcome to Peoria, Derek.
