I had forgotten that we even signed him... then again, I've been a little out of it.

I sure hope that doesn't mean they're planning to play Sydor a whole bunch...

It means that The Blues are planning to sign Sydor, and, at least alternate him with weaver and Pietrangelo in the # 5-7 spots. Sending Bell down to Peoria now, is safer than sending him later. Teams are trying hard to cut down their rosters now. A teaming picking him up would have to keep him on their NHL roster. It's not too likely that a team will pick him up now. The Blues' coaches can work with Bell on his defensive game at Peoria. Maybe he can return confident and effective and consistent in all zones, and help provide relatively inexpensive defensive depth to The Blues for the next several years.

He won't be subject to waivers upon re-entry, as his AHL salary is not over $105,000. This is just a move to protect The Blues' depth on defence, and provide some veteran mentoring for E.J., Pietrangelo, Polak and Colaiacovo, if Jackman gets hurt.
