Every year I think to myself that this is the year the Wings start to sink back into mediocrity... and every year I'm completely wrong...
But I think we're seeing it now. It's happening. As soon as Lidstrom either retires or hits his wall, and players stop signing at a discount to play there it's over. Should be a year or two.

Yeah, you'll start to see the effects of it this year I think.
They still have a really good team, so they are still going to win a lot of games, but losing over 80 goals from last year and with their goaltending that might be the worst in the league...they shouldn't be dominant over long stretches like they were in the past.
Maybe we could pay Patrick Kane to beat up Lidstrom? Just a thought...

Based on the "we didn't get hacked and slashed in the preseason" comment, I think this is a direct link to the games in sweden.

Well they said a "couple of games" in the preseason. So I didn't know if something happened during those other preseason games -- without May -- that gave them some concerns.
Hey! They're going to goon it up so we should cut our fighters!
