Let the good times roll.
Re: Jackman Out A Minimum Of Seven Days - Ankle Sprain
They didn't mention it on the telecast, but it looked like Jackman missed some of the game last night after he got hurt (and then eventually came back).

Depending on Jackman's condition, when the Blues leave for their roadtrip they are going to have to call up a 7th defensemen.
I'm guessing that it will be Strachan.
EDIT: JR is speculating this as well.

It helps get Pietrangelo playing time earlier. But it makes The Blues weak-hitting defence even less physical. Strachan will be called up. Then Pietrangelo will probably alternate playing and sitting out with the defenceman in "the doghouse", or one that needs rest. I guess that Strachan (mostly) or Weaver (once in a while) will sit out when Pietrangelo plays. With luck, Jackman will be back after a week. But he shouldn't rush it, so he can avoid re-injury, and turning it into a chronic injury.

Purhaps like last year, the 'injury' is a product of film review.

Speaking of our 'D', does anybody else wonder why Polak doesn't play more of a physical game? IMHO he's a big kid that should be instilling fear into anybody that skates into our zone.

He still lays out some big hits...just not often enough.stlbluz wrote:Speaking of our 'D', does anybody else wonder why Polak doesn't play more of a physical game? IMHO he's a big kid that should be instilling fear into anybody that skates into our zone.
I’m sure it is a result of the coaching staff and their preferences. I saw Polak when he was younger and he beat the piss out of anything that entered the zone.

I'm sure that this may be considered however if it's offensive pop we need from the defense, how come Junland is continuing to be overlooked?
Not that Pietrangelo doesn't deserve a shot, although I suspect they're only going to give him the 9 games anyway, and then kick him back to juniors again, but if they're going to be in a position to play him once every 3 or 4 games, they're pissing away valuable time that he could be playing and continuing to develop. Lord knows d-men take time to develop and Junland should be further along in that development, I'd think. Of course anyone who consistently watches Peoria can feel free to prove me wrong and that's fine. As for Strachan, Weaver, Jackman, you know someone has to go. With all the kids in the pipeline at D, more than a few are going to have to go anyway in the next 2 or 3 years. This team is physical enough that they can afford to have more offensive contributions from the D to compliment that non-existent offensive D that they have right now (other than EJ) and had last season. Rolling 4 relatively physical scoring-potential lines plus having relatively physical offensive D would be unbelievable.

Why is it people still call for Junland to be called up? So we can rotate two defenseman who have little NHL experience. At least Strachan played a decent amount last year and showed he could hold is own for the most part. I am sure they aren't discriminating, Junland just hasn't showed what he needs to to the coaches, and when he does I am sure they will consider calling him up but he just isn't the right choice right now. I will trust Murray's decision, the man love for Junland is out there though.

I am as much excited about Junland dominating offensively in the NHL, but we have to watch our defense very closely. E.J. is still getting back in game shape IMO and Petro has his first game tonight. Strachan has played NHL hockey and gets the other teams better than Junland right now.
Plus, you have to figure that Junland is getting some top minutes in Peoria (maybe a Rivermen fan can confirm that). I would rather have him playing anywhere than sitting in the press box.
