New York Islanders become the Kansas City (what?)
Time for a guessing/speculation time killer. It looks like this project on Long Island isn't going to happen and Mr. Wang's (boy are we gunna have fun with that one) is ready to take his team else where. KC seems like the most logical fit given the already standing arena just waiting for a permanent tennant. But what would the new name of the team be? They wouldn't keep the Islanders name obviously. I also highly doubt there would be a reincarnation of the Scouts name. What do you guys thinks would be an appropriate name for the franchise?
Kansas City Comets, anyone?

New York Islanders become Brooklyn Islanders. Bank on it.

The Kansas City Ruffians- yet another Civil War reference in the NHL
The KC Fountaineers- "City of Fountains", 'nuff said.

If a team ever plays in Kansas City, I would like them to revive the old Scouts name and logo. I think the Islanders are using KC as a bargaining ploy to get a new arena in Brooklyn. I can't honestly say wether or not KC deserves a NHL team, until Quebec or Winnipeg is given a chance at NHL preseason games.

I like the Scouts name, but they need a better logo.

If we didn't already have the name, Blues would be very appropriate.

It'll end up being something gay, like "Jazz." I would like to see them buy the Kings name back, but pay for it with State of California-style IOUs.

Re: New York Islanders become the Kansas City (what?)
Well that arena in Brooklyn is being built regardless. But moving to Brooklyn would be very similar to moving to KC in that the fan base would completely change. Season ticket holders aren't going to drive in from Long Island 41+ times a year. Plus the main tenant of that arena will be the Nets. So they would not be the main attraction and would be 2nd in line in terms of scheduling. Not saying it wouldn't work, but it would be difficult.
Re: New York Islanders become the Kansas City (what?)
I'd imagine they'll try to work some royalty into it.
Chiefs - Royals
Knights might fit; Lords is a little bit archaic. The Kings would've been ideal (for obvious reasons).

It could always be worse, I could be a Cubs fan. (But please, if you could spare me the parallels between the respective organizations, I'd really appreciate it).

They already tried that with the NBA and lost that franchise too. Plus that team in LA might have an issue with it.Oz-iz-God wrote:I'd imagine they'll try to work some royalty into it.

Brooklyn isn't very far from Uniondale. I'm fairly sure it would be accessible by subway for fans coming out from Manhattan and by LIRR for fans coming in from Long Island. Driving there would take a bit of a while with our legendary rush hour traffic, though.

By the way: K.C. Masterpiece. I'm sure there'd be some licensing infringement suits with that.

Well, they don't have any restaurants left, so maybe they don't have the funds to sue!glen a richter wrote:By the way: K.C. Masterpiece. I'm sure there'd be some licensing infringement suits with that.

Re: New York Islanders become the Kansas City (what?)
It would have to be the Chiefs, it just has to be and they can trade the Leafs for Christian Hanson, it would be so perfect
