MS-dos commands
Anyone know anything about using the command line in MS-DOS?
I am renaming some files by doing the below.
rename example*.* *.*.old
Is there anything I can add to this so I can get a list of the "examlple" files that were renamed?

Re: MS-dos commands
Can't you just pipe the output to a txt file?
rename *.* *.*.old >> junk.txt
You might have to use pipe (|) <-(I did a butt!) instead of >>

Re: MS-dos commands
just get a blank text file. it might have worked if there was any output...Prngr44 wrote:Can't you just pipe the output to a txt file?

Re: MS-dos commands
Test it using some other command. Do a "dir" and output it.
Re: MS-dos commands
yup, that prints it to the text file instead of the screen.Prngr44 wrote:Test it using some other command. Do a "dir" and output it.
but with the rename command it just renames the file and doesn't print anything out. i know i can just go to the directory the files are being changed in and sort by date modified but everything i am doing is very repetitive and I am trying to cut back on my clicking...
i really need to learn how to program, i could write a few things that would save me many hours of the time i spend on crap like this...

Re: MS-dos commands
speaking of programing...
my work machine has the timer set to make the login screen come up every fifteen minutes...i found the regiestry key that controls this...
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Control Panel\Desktop\ScreenSaveTimeOut
it is measured in seconds...and of course the 'box' that controls this in your display properties is grayed out.
I have a feeling that once i go back to the office and re-sync, it will change back to 900s (15min)
Anyone know a simple script I could 'write' to execute every time my computer restarts (or comes online for that matter) that would re-set this value to something realistic...like maybe:
http://blogs.technet.com/heyscriptinggu ... value.aspx with different values and a different reg key in it.
sorry, this is a blues forum...i'm obviously bored...

After all, Bolvar's held out for months already while we've been sidetracked with an Old God and wow gold . Has he really come this far only to give in just as the cavalry come riding to his rescue? Now, if this was Lord of the Rings, we'd all be telling Frodo or Tirion, or Varian or whoever to pick wow gold up that Helmet and cast it into the fires of Mount Doom. But this is wow power level, and evil doesn't die that easily in wow gold. Who says it will be so easy to destroy the energies of the Lich King?
Who, indeed?
