It is much too early to fire Murray. People have short memory spans.

No. Not yet at least. We aren't getting blown out like the end of the Kitchen era. I just don't think he completely lost the magic he worked near the end of last season.

Before firing Murray, trade anyone who gets more ice time than Eller until he gets his deserved play time.

We've got a decent team, and we ARE picking up points...Let's see what happens in this 6 game homestand! We need to start winning at home, too!

I remember what he did for the team, but come on. When Janssen gets more time than Eller, come on...

They need to start scoring more goals. With Murray's system, that's not very likely to happen.

Give it to December, then start making changes.

That's too late if you ask me. Can't ask the team to make the same run they did last year and expect it to happen.northwest dave wrote:Give it to December, then start making changes.

Re: Fire Murray?
And do what...is there a plan? You have Murray right the ship or he's gone, but that ship is pretty big and it's been building for years. You don't change it suddenly because of a few bad games. But if it continues....yes.ohio BLUES wrote:That's too late if you ask me. Re: Fire Murray?
A few bad games? This is two crap-ass starts to begin the last two seasons. The hockey guys in the front office are smart enough. I'm not saying you throw youngsters away for veterans, there's no need for that. But if the plan dictated from the coaching staff ain't working... and it ain't, obviously... bring someone in who can maximize the talent and output from the team that's in place.northwest dave wrote:And do what...is there a plan? As Nyght's said, if not now then when? What's the threshold of suck necessary to relieve Murray of his duties?

Re: Fire Murray?
There's not a whole lot on the schedule that looks like a shoo-in for the near future. Even the Islanders are playing decent hockey nowadays. The easiest games coming up seems to be, ironically, the ones against Detroit. I say that solely because Detroit's goaltending sucks.

Re: Fire Murray?
I wanted to fire Murray after Game 3 of this season when we totally laid an egg after the promising start against the wings.
My reasons are exactly the same as they were then - Murray has no idea what to do with the young talent he has on this team and will continue to go to guys that are past their prime (Walt) or guys that never had them (Brewer) instead of letting his horses run.

Re: Fire Murray?
Sure, we're picking up points. But c'mon. We're also dropping points we should have no issue getting. Plus this team can't buy a goal if they had to on most nights. Or if they do get a lead they completely piss it away (see: 1st Phoenix game, tonight, etc)
If things aren't righted by Dec 1, something's GOT to change. And I'll be god damned if Eller gets optioned back to Peoria!

The organization needs to realize that Crombeen and Winchester aren't NHL players first.

Winchester yes, but Crombeen has been part of the PK crew which was the only reason we got a tie today.Ace wrote:The organization needs to realize that Crombeen and Winchester aren't NHL players first.

Re: Fire Murray?
In the last two games, the Blues have done everything right except in one area... putting the puck in the net. All of the coaching, instruction, drilling and bag skating in the WORLD isn't going to teach shooters how to hit the target.
Andy Murray didn't let one in from teh blue line today. Andy Murray didn't keep hitting Hedberg in the crest with pucks. Andy Murray didn't miss by 2 feet in teh shootout........

Using this logic, JD should offer Murray a lifetime contract.BF44 wrote:In the last two games, the Blues have done everything right except in one area... putting the puck in the net.
