He's said as much himself, many times.

He was a great fighter, though I do wish towards the end he would have been a bit more assertive.

Far too may opponents figured out they could take liberties with our players as much as they wanted as long as they simply chose not to drop gloves with Tony.

It would have only taken one or two instigator penalties and beat the hell out of someone that wanted no part of him and that would have all came to an end.

I always thought Chase was better at making other players fight, of course that could have had something to do with the fact that he couldn’t hurt them quite as bad as Tony.

Yeah, no one would even fight him toward the end of his career. He was so good at his job that he made himself pretty useless. Kind of funny.

I dislike him for being such a litigious douche about that whole Spawn Comics/Todd McFarlane thing. Lighten up Francis.

<random advice>

Don't ever let your kids get signatures on rookie cards.

A signature on a rookie card is basically considered graffeti and destroys its value. The two values don't double dip; they're not combined just because they're the same thing.

If you're getting signatures get them on pictures, sticks, jerseys or regular cards that are only worth like $.75, not rookie cards.

Is there a rookie card from the last 20 years that's worth more then a buck or two?

I have Crosby's and Ovechkin's rookie cards (Upper Deck base set and Fleer base set) and last I had checked they were at $75 and $80 respectively.

There are others I haven't checked the price on in forever but those two are my most valuable I think.

They fluctuate all the time. I'd imagine Crosby's went up $5-10 since the 'guins won the cup.

I neglected to sell my Andrew Raycroft prospect when it was at $55 when he won the Calder cause I thought he'd have a great career. Now I'd be lucky to get $5 for it.

I haven't bought cards in forever but I still snag a few when I feel like it. You do it because you enjoy it, not because it's profitable, that's for sure.

Neatest one I own has an actual piece of the old Blues arena boards IN the card. Pretty cool I guess.

How does one tell the difference between the boards from the Arena as opposed to another venue?

 Heck if I know. The little "Notice of Authenticity" blurb on the back of the card was the only thing that told me. Complete with an automated signature from Upper Deck's president.

nope. Still find gum in old 1990 packs that you can get for $.10 at garage sales.

Osgood? Seriously?

Average, yes... but not worthy of this list. I don't recall him being labeled the "Goalie of the Future" or anything when the Blues traded for him. I would not mention Osgood with the likes of Lalime, McLennan, Sanford, Johnson...goalies who had big chances and consistently let down. Just my opinion.

You're probably right. Definitely not the worst. It just seemed like at the time of the signing, the biggest problem we had was inconsistent goaltending, and Osgood was going to provide some semblance of stability. I don't think anyone expected show-stopping performance, but what we got was disappointingly sub-par. Another kick in the jimmy, this time from a former (and future) Red Wing.

As for McClennan, I never minded him. He was a backup, and perhaps an average one at that, but I don't recall anything that would make me consider him one of the worst. His stock with me actually rose a little bit when he was playing with Calgary, and Detroit kept interfering with the goalie. So they put in McClennan, and whenever Holmstrom (or whomever it was) started messing with him, McClennan just whacked the piss out of him with his stick and took the ejection for the team. My first thought was "Good for him."
