- No power play.

- Lackluster offense.

- Underachieving players.

- Failure to hold veterans accountable for their mistakes.

- 1 regulation win in our last 7 games.

- Under .500 record for a team that is supposed to be a playoff team.

Murray is on the fast track to getting fired.

Will anyone be upset if he is fired??? If not, that is a tell tale sign right there that he needs to go.

Boring, sloppy hockey with good players over a good period of time means the coaching is failing.

I just read this over at the asylum. Sounds like the perfect coach for the job would be Peter Laviolette. This is snippet that describes his coaching style that was written when the Wild were looking for a new coach.
Fletcher and owner Craig Leipold have made clear the Wild will have a change of mind-set on the ice. The two are looking to overhaul the system into a more up- tempo, physical, offensive-minded style.

That describes Laviolette's brand of hockey. He coaches a very aggressive, attacking style in every zone. At times, both defensemen are allowed to leave the front of the net, and pinching is not only permitted but encouraged on the weak side.

"I don't think it's just wide-open hockey, but I do think it's about the puck and pressuring and pursuing and attacking the puck as much as you can. It's about trying to generate offense," said Laviolette, who is an analyst for Canada's TSN. "All teams have to be responsible defensively, but I'd definitely characterize the system as offensive."
I love hockey. Period.

The sad thing is, I like Murray. He did wonders with this team last year and is a good enough coach to take us to the cup...

EXCEPT one thing.

At this point, the only way to get rid of Eric Brewer, Brad Winchester, and Barrett Jackman is to get rid of Murray. So Murray is going to have to go in the very near future, unless everyone above him is as stupid as he is.

Give me a new coach (I don't know enough about history and the coaches that are floating around right now to nominate, but Laviolette sure sounds good from what was said in this thread) and Tyson Strachan, Jonas Junland and Lars Eller night in and night out. We might miss the playoffs this year, but we'll be AWESOME next year.

This game screams that Murray's leash is now approaching the collar. Signs are starting to pile up.

Frustrating, because the team put in the effort. But something isn't clicking. I mean, everyone played great...even Winchester. And Kariya was flying. But they still lost. Ugh.

To disagree, one doesn't have to be disagreeable.

+ I think the too many men on the ice penalty might be the final dagger.

Thinking the same thing.
I actually had that down, but erased it. When a team takes a too many men on ice penalty, especially late in the game, it usually means that the coach and players aren't in sync.

Fire Darren Pang, every team he has been associated was bad during his time with them.
Chicago Blackhawks.
ESPN hockey coverage.
ABC hockey coverage.
Phoenix Coyotes.
Now he is ruining the Blues.
He is a curse.

OK, I have to say something here.

Last night, the Blues were pressing for the tying goal, and with a solid attack going, not only do we make an inexplicable change, we take a TMM penalty on it to boot. My first thought was...

If guys are THAT worried about shift time and not about scoring the tying goal, there may be a coaching issue here..........

Yeah... I said it.... so sue me....

Don't just stab and be done with it, stab and twist a little to really get in there.

seriously, I check this site and yahoo every day to see if Murray has been fired.
I dont see why he is still there. Makes no sense at all. stop giving this guy chances, he is not what this team needs.
edit: this team should be scoring 5 goals a game. There are good players on each line. along with good D and great Goaltending
