Blues Acquire Pelletier from ColumbusColumbus receives Brendan Bell and Tomas Kana in the tradeTuesday, 12.08.2009 / 11:30 AM / News St. Louis BluesST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced Tuesday the club has acquired forward Pascal Pelletier (pas-KAL, PEHL-tyay) from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for Brendan Bell and Tomas Kana.

Pelletier, 26, has played in 25 games this season with the American Hockey League’s (AHL) Syracuse Crunch, recording 16 points (three goals, 13 assists) and 23 penalty minutes. Last season, the 5-11, 197-pound left winger notched 55 points (29 goals, 26 assists) and 45 penalty minutes in 71 games with Rockford of the AHL. Pelletier led the team in goals and power play goals and was second on the club in points.

The Labrador City, Newfoundland native has played in 13 National Hockey League games with Boston and Chicago. He was originally signed by Boston as an undrafted free agent on Aug. 7, 2006. Pelletier will report to the Blues’ AHL affiliate Peoria Rivermen.

Way to shake it up!!!

Why wasn't Bell given a shot w/the Blues? He didn't even dress for a game. I'm a little confused. His numbers weren't too horrible last season for Ottawa... 53 GP, 6G, 15A. He wouldn't have been a Norris trophy winner or anything, but still...

Since they moved Bell who is a defenseman, it just tells me they plan on sending Petro down when he gets back from the Juniors’ tourney.

Jonas Junland was going to be given that call up. Bell was just holding Jonas back. Now Strachan will be his PP partner, and Junland will be given the chance to shoot more. Junland could be a 50 goal scorer now.
