LGB Poll 12/16/09: Fire Murray?

Post by ohio BLUES »

Forget about what to do to replace him, if you want him fired. This is a simple yes or no poll, no Aode/Tool option because that's a given anyhow. So, with the Blues sitting at 14th in the conference, at a record of 14-13-5, is now the time to fire Murray?

Coach Murray, thanks for the run to the playoffs last year. It was a great time in the history of the Blues, and an amazing accomplishment. However, it's time for the organ-eye-zation to make a change.

Name an interim head coach to stay afloat until a new guy could be found. Maybe MacTavish? Maybe Therrien? Dunno, but we need a more offensive-minded coach with a bit less rigidity.

I am all aboard!! I have been saying this on FB for the last month. The response I get is who do we replace him with? We'll figure it out but they aren't going to do much worse, truthfully and if they do well this season is almost a damn wash anyways so... Murray has lost his players and they don't want to play for him anymore so why have him around. He doesn't want to let players like DP and berg do their thing and wants to control it all, it's BS. I agree with the statement in the previous post...we need offensive minded coach NOW!! LETZGOBLOOZ!!

Therrien doesn't sound like a bad suggestion.. But like someone said who cares who it is, it just needs to be someone until they do find a solid replacement.

Three votes no... Murray, his son, and his daughter I presume? Anyone want to speak for these votes and their tolerance of mediocrity?

Seriously, who voted to keep him here? I'd like hear the reasons why. I bet it's just a few stray fans from other teams that like the fact that we can't execute under the Mur's system.

I voted to not fire him. Here's why:

Yes, this team needs a shakeup. What I would like to see done is more roster moves and such. Waive Sydor and Winchester to begin with. Call up Junland (or Strachan) until Petro is back, and call up Eller. That's more offense on the team which is exactly what we need. We don't really lose much money and we get an injection of youth, WHICH MURRAY WILL HAVE TO UTILIZE.

Come on, JD. It's time for some action already.

From what we've seen so far, our youth isn't developing as quickly under Murray as everyone had hoped. Do you honestly believe Murray is the guy if we do as you suggest (which I completely agree with)? I think the youth would work and develop better under someone else.

Murray is doing absolutely nothing with the youth. Changing up lines. Shit PP time. It's worthless

Well, the youth seemed to be developing quickly enough last year. I guess what I am saying is that if you nix Winchester and Sydor, you are forced to play guys like Johnson and Perron more. Eller and Junland aren't gonna be eating up the same minutes as Sydoy-Winny.

Now, is Murray capable of teaching youth? Frankly, from what I've seen he needs to get out of the way (and out of their heads) and let them play their style (even if it means changing the system to suit the style of team we have). He doesn't need to teach talent. He just needs to let it flourish. Again, this falls on the shoulders of JD, IMHO. If Murray won't adjust to his employers wishes than he probably will get canned here eventually.

I don't think any coach should be limiting people as severely as Murray has been limiting some of our kids... these geezers aren't going to be here when we win the cup... should they be taking shifts from our future? Can we dump them to a team that thinks they will win the cup this year and turn them into something more useful for the future of our franchise?
