Yes, he's still a little green, but competent NHL teams are able to take on such defensemen with a little regularity (Andy Greene/NJ, Hedman/TB, and even Jackman here). The problem is that we don't have an Al MacInnis playing right now to show the way, and this team has enough crap to put up with trying to claw back into playoff positioning.

During the draft I know they said he wasn't as far along in his progress at others but his ceiling was much higher.
I suppose it's the risk/reward factor in play.
