Weaver SOG

Post by Leedog »

I heard Kerbs and Chase say last night Weaver just got his second shot on goal in the last 15 games. I know he is a defensive defenseman, and no PP time, but that is just unacceptable. About as unacceptable as having a sellout crowd on a Saturday night and only mustering 2 goals against the #2 goalie on a team below you in the standings when you need every point possible.

I think Weaver's SOG #'s are the least of our concerns. Don't (Franking) pick on the only defenseman on our team who has been consistent and solid in his own end. Pick on Paul Kariya, Patrik Berglund, Brad Boyes, Keith Tkachuk, Erik Johnson and whoever else on this team is EXPECTED to have shots on goal and doesn't. We habitually have 2-3 SOG in the entire 3rd period of games. That is PATHETIC. This team doesn't need Weaver to shoot, this team needs Weaver to do what he's been doing and everybody else to wake the (Frank) up.

IIRC at one time in the third, Weaver's SOG was the only shot on goal from our defensemen.

how about some franking creativity with the puck in the offensive zone around the faceoff circles for fukk's sake? more of that, less cycling.

Weaver is basically Jeff Finley with a beard. Maybe someday he'll score a huge goal in Game 6 of the Quarters, but inevitably he'll just leave St. Louis and be an afterthought.

I dunno. I think Weaver, along with Steen, are the most underrated guys on the team.
We're a better team with both of those guys in the lineup.

I don't see how anyone actually watching could argue that Weaver hasn't been one of our top defensemen. I’m not sure if that’s more of a positive for him or a negative on the other guys, but it is a fact.

This team is much better off with Weavs out there then without him.

Really?

So now a guy that thinks Cam should play every game is going to evaluate defenseman.

Everyone is welcome to their own opinion, and you’ve chose the wrong one.

The sad part of the whole thing is their D corps is so challenged, a guy with weavers limitations belongs in the top 6.

Very true.

My point was merely that he does.

Hell, defensively he’s top 4. And that’s sad……really sad.

I just realized I read your post wrong, so I am sorry, I agree with you guys.

And in defense of you saying I said Janssen should play every game, that isn't true. I only said I would rather see him play over King most of the time, not that he should play every game no matter what.

Finley was solid and gets a pass from me for coming out of the box early to pull Sasquatch Hatcher off Demitra.

Weaver is solid and the least of our worries. Sure, he's not the flashiest name there and he doesn't chip in offense, but he does his job, and he's cheap. He can be the 5th or 6th d-man of the Blues as long as he wants, so much as he stays as steady as he has been.

Oh yeah, and there's this....

That hit was a thing of beauty and in the fast paced nature of the game doesn't get any cleaner than that. Eddie Olczyk is a dumb dumb.

"Mike Weaver left his feet!"

turns to

And then to, "Look! His left skate was off the ground, like a centimeter! LEAVING HIS FEET!"

Okay, that maybe paraphrasing or exaggerating a bit, but really, his left skate barely off the ice doesn't really constitute a 'leaving the feet' call in my book. Plus, ol' Patty Sharp had his head down the entire time, no awareness at all...in fact, he was the opposite of Sharp. *rimshot*
