Rumor: Parise to STL

Rumor: Parise to STL
I have absolutely no detailed info to back this up...but I was just sent a note from a colleague of mine...
Rumor: NJ Parise to STL
I asked for more info...will post if I hear more.
But I would imagine the only way Parise gets moved would be if Kovalchuk signed with NJ.

Re: Rumor: Parise to STL
He should have been a Blue long ago. The Blues owed New Jersey (stevens ) one last favor... swap draft positions at the option of the St. Louis Blues.
The year was 2003. Larry Pleau had the option of keeping pick 17, or swapping with Cup champions New Jersey Devils, in 2003 or 2004. Larry chose to swap. New Jersey had to pick from Ryan Getzlaf, Corey Perry, Mike Richards, Ryan Kesler, and Brent Burns, but chose Zach Parise.
We drafted Shawn Belle.
No, that cry isn't good enough. (Lottery Emoticon Needed)
I will hold my breath until a trade is announced and we find out who goes the other way.

In exchange, the Blues lose a decades worth of 1st round picks, and Parise is awarded as compensation to NJ for tampering with Kovalchuk.

Well, all I've got is that the rumor came from a guy who knows a guy within the organization.
So if I were Eklund, this would be a done deal.
Let's get real though...if Kovalchuk signs in LA, Parise isn't getting traded. If Kovy signs in NJ, Parise could very well get traded.
I think once Kovy decides where he is going, then we'll hear about Parise.
So, what would you guys give up for Parise?
I would LOVE to screw over NJ and get them to bite on a Berglund and Brewer for Parise deal.

Anything that does send them Backes, Perron, Halak, Oshie, or Steen, in that order, and I'm down with that.

I'm assuming you meant "does NOT" send them?Winning Unlimited wrote:Anything that does send them Backes, Perron, Halak, Oshie, or Steen, in that order, and I'm down with that.
But srsly, Parise is one of those players that I would hand the NJ GM a copy of the Blues' roster minus EJ, Halak and possibly one or two other players and say "pick two," throw in a firstie and it's a done deal.

Re: Rumor: Parise to STL
Yes, I meant does NOT, and should have included EJ and Pietrangelo. We need a hotline number if there is a team out there that wants Boyes, Andy Mac, Berglund, Brewer, or Jackman.
Re: Rumor: Parise to STL
I wonder what we could get for Berglund in a trade?
I am just curious as to what other teams think he is worth.
I'm guessing not much at all.
I would imagine any trade involving Parise would have them asking for Oshie...and I don't think we'd trade Oshie. He's way too valuable. And I don't just mean off the ice. He can make this team a lot of money by promoting the team off of the ice.
He's the biggest fan favorite we've had in a long time.
Oshie is the type of player that is worth way more to us than to other teams, so it would take an awful lot for us to trade him...and that's something other teams wouldn't give up to get him.
If his offensive numbers improve, I think he could probably run for mayor.

Re: Rumor: Parise to STL
If the Blues acquire Parise, I guarantee you that Perron is gone. It would probably be something like Perron, Junland, and a 1st (at the bare minimum, that's probably what the Blues would offer, not necessarily what NJ would accept) for Parise. If we trade for Parise, we would need to make room in our top six on the wing, and NJ would want another forward not making a ton of money (i.e. not Boyes). Think of our scoring wingers: McDonald (or Backes, depending on who's playing center), Boyes, Oshie, Steen, and Perron. Who is most likely to get traded? It's Perron.

Re: Rumor: Parise to STL
As usual, I still don't like the idea of giving up Perron. I don't know. I guess it's because he was given such a hard time by Murray I think he could improve quite a bit by having the ATOMIC DOG at the reigns for a full season. Because I'm lazy and haven't paid much attention, what is NJ's defensive situation like? That's where I'd try to start.

Re: Rumor: Parise to STL
Does adding Parise make the Blues immediately better?
It does? That's why we probably won't do it.
