Almost picked up Wolf in my fantasy league earlier this week until I saw this match-up. Wolf has been pitching really well, let's inflate his ERA tonight.

Holy Jaime...dude was a few outs away from a perfect game. That's what you like to see, especially against a division rival.

He was on fire, Wolf hit three batters, Yadie goes yard.....

This team is on a role right now.

Now maybe we'll get good news and Theriot will be out a while.

Speaking of SS, Jose Reyes of the Mets is on the block. He would be an AWESOME addition if we could make it happen. I just don't see how we can though w/o overpaying w/ young prospects. To do that, I think we need to be able to either retain him for several years or think he will significantly increase our WS chances.

I don't think we can re-sign him (he's a FA after the season) unless we don't keep Pujols (but that's another debate). If Dewitt is willing to pay him $11Mil this year (also doubtful), I think he helps our chances enough this year to warrant slightly overpaying for him though.

Forget reality, if we had him instead of Theriot, it would be a sick upgrade.

Big time series win for the Birds. McClellan with another great performance. Sanchez struggled a bit down the stretch in the 9th, but Salas came in and threw 3 bang-bang-bang strikes to seal the win. I believe there's an off day tomorrow for the Cards then back at it on Tuesday. Remember when we were all worried about the offense and this team? This is fun to watch.

reminds me of 2004

I didn't get to see the game, but any thoughts on McClellan coming out? My cousin was there and booed LaRussa for it (which I thought was kinda dumb). Was his pitch count real high? In a 2-0 game, if he lets him pitch the ninth at all, it makes a lot of sense to take him out. But, the batter can't tie the game w/ a HR, so it's not as clear. If he thought he was just out of gas, it doesn't make sense to let him start the inning.

I guess it could have been a matchup thing. Or maybe he didn't want to wait until there were 2 on which lets one bad pitch from Sanchez ruin McClellan's start.

I have long thought this would be the plan. Knowing they will not be resigning Albert, they would aquire the 'big-ticket' replacement at the trade deadline and take on last shot at the World Series while Albert was still here. Of course, I've wondered how the loss of Wayne-o would change that.

At this point, I'm not sure what to expect, and I'm fairly certain that Cards' management isn't sure either.
