I'm curious to see if Theriot gets plunked. Hill and Zambrano went almost as far as to say that during the offseason when Theriot made his comment about "finally being on the right side of the rivalry."

He will, but it will be a ball hit to short, that bounces twice, but he still won't be able to get out of his own way.

Oh, and if he's not hurt too terribly he'll pick it up and throw it into the stands over Albert's head.

That will be interesting, as well as Cubs fan's reactions. I know he was a fan favorite but after what he said, I could see some boos, ala Jimmy Ballgame when he joined up with the Cubs. Should be a fun series. After this they've got Cincy and then Philly and Houston (or Houston then Philly, not sure). Good stretch of games.

La Russa is not managing tonight because of the eye.

I just heard that Theriot called Cardinals fans hoosiers on ESPN Radio Chicago yesterday. Maybe he's trying to get back on his old teams good side?

Here's Bernie M's write up on it. Seems pretty harmless to me, but I'm not from St. Louis so I wouldn't take much offense to it.

http://www.stltoday.com/sports/baseball ... 0f31a.html
The following is an excerpt from the daily "Bernie Bytes" blog by Post-Dispatch columnist Bernie Miklasz:

Buckle up, Ryan Theriot. It could be a rough ride for the former Cub at Wrigley Field over the next few days. His "finally on the right side of the rivalry" remark in the offseason didn't play well on Chicago's North side. Over the winter catcher Koyie Hill said Theriot could expect to be knocked down, and pitcher Carlos Zambrano called him "the enemy."

Then again, Theriot may be in for some jeering when he returns to St. Louis after joining in on the fun on a Chicago sports-talk show (ESPN 1000).

When the hosts made fun of Cardinals fans wearing tank tops and cutoff jean shorts, Theriot laughed and enthusiastically added, "Tank tops, jean shorts and some Timberland boots." And then Theriot laughed again.

Wow, dude. Taking shots at Cardinals fans? The Cardinals fans who have largely overlooked your eight errors? Is that smart? Are you a double agent, or what?

And should Theriot be talking about boots, given all of the ground balls he's kicked around? Sheesh.

I know he was just joking around, but I don't see how Theriot helps himself by joining in on the attempt to reduce Cardinals fans to "Larry the Cable Guy" caricatures.

So, pretty much everyone in Busch?!

I think they called it right on the FastLane last night (that's something you don't hear very often)

Yes...and wear a mullet. And grow a handlebar mustache over night. And bring a giant cooler of PBR.

But, when was the last time they were blown out this season? Was this the first time? I don't want to say it's "acceptable," but it's obv gonna happen now and again.

+1

I didn't know what you were talking about a few hours ago when I first saw your post. I just saw an article on ESPN about it though. Getting upset about this is dumber than people getting upset about Theriot's comments.

I bet there were a bunch of Cubs fans at the game last night with wet socks that were wishing they were wearing waterproof Timberland boots.

We'll see your 11-4 win and raise you a 9-1 win, the series win, and 1st place in the division.

Always great to beat the Cubs. Just makes the day a tad better, no?

People who don't care about people making a big deal out of nothing. Players socialize before games with opposing players. I don't see how this is much different.

Funny part is the league got mad at the them about it. Apparently the league put out a mandate before the season asking players to cut down on the pregame team to team fraternization. Apparently it was on of the biggest complaints by season ticket holders around the league last year.

I could care less, unless he put 300 million in Albert"s pocket during the embrace, it's not going to secure Albert's presence anyways.
