Visiting St. Louis for Sharks game - advice?

Hello Blues fans!

My husband & I are Sharks fans traveling to your city this weekend to catch Saturday's game. We're staying near the Arch & planning to dine at Bridge Tap House before we head over to the arena. We have all day Saturday to sightsee but nothing planned other than visiting the Arch. Any must-see attractions or must-do activities that you folks can recommend?

The brewery is cool, along with the tour you get a choice of 2 free decent sized samples of around 10 different beers they make.

Also, I'll second the StL Zoo and add the Art Museum on with that. They're very close to each other and they're both free! The museum has a special on Monet's water lilies if you're into that kinda stuff, if not they've got a huge amount of other art and artifacts.

And... don't mention David Perron. Have fun!

The Zoo (we have a very good zoo here), The Art Museum and The Science Center are all in Forest Park pretty much all right next to each other...and the Anheuser-Busch Brewery tour is a must.

All of the above are free by the way.

The arch is a given stop...but if you want tickets to go to the top, check about getting them in advance as they tend to sell out.

There is also a museum under the Arch called the Jefferson National Expansion Museum. My wife used to work there as a ranger. Some pretty cool and informative stuff in there about the history of the area and whatnot. There is also a short movie about the building of the arch.

You can also get a tour of the Old Courthouse, which is right next to the arch, if you are into that kind of thing. Some pretty interesting history.

If you run into a Mr. Anthony Gilpin at either the Court House or the museum, tell him Curt says "hello".

Thanks, you guys! These are some great suggestions. We'll likely take in both the zoo & the art museum. The price of FREE is very generous of the city.

Also love the trashtalk. Y'know, barring a recovery in the next couple of games, you're catching the Sharks at a pretty down time, so a beatdown of them may indeed take place. I don't think so though. I'm envisioning a righting of the ship in time for the 3-game road trip.

Make sure to hit this club called "The Complex." It's a wonderful place. Also, Sauget Illinois right across the river is a great place to head after the game. You may also want to head due north of the arena for some great nightlife.

when I went to St. Louis we got nailed with a major ice storm. We also got a 5-2 win over the Blackhawks which was fantastic. But the weather blew chunks, so we weren't able to get out much the next day to do all the things I'd wanted to do. We did get to the arch though, that was a must.

I hate when people come visit me in St. Louis for the first time and I have to take them to the arch. Pretty much only tourists and those stuck hosting them go to the arch. It's something you only need to do once and then you are like, "That's it? I don't need to ever do that again."

Bridge tap house is awesome though. You have to have their brownie. It's the best ever (it's actually the same brownie as Bailey's chocolate brownie served at Bailey's chocolate bar).

I imagine taking people to the arch for you guys is similar to people wanting to see the empire state building for me. It's a tall building, there's a lot of them in the city, it's really nothing special at all.

At the top of the arch, there isn't much room to move around, the windows are pretty small...but it's kind of neat to look straight down.
It's best on a clear day. Cloudy days kind of suck.
It's also kind of neat when you are up in the arch and that huge fountain on the east side that shoots up a few hundred feet is on.
The elevators are...well...interesting...and small...but what do you expect? It's pretty narrow at the top, so they have to get up there.

Meh...it is what it is. You go up in a high structure and you look out some windows.
It's probably more interesting at the foot of the arch, looking up. Better for pics and whatnot.

But yeah, you have to go do it if you are a tourist in town...that and the brewery tour are musts.

Alright, it is frikkin' cold here. Beautiful sunny day though. The Arch was actually great for us - we got there before it opened so no crowds whatsoever. Bonus was that we shared a car to the top with Randy Hahn, the Sharks' play-by-play man. Totally unexpected.

I do imagine that it would be a PITA to escort visitors to the Arch. I can totally relate when we have visitors ask to go to Fisherman's Wharf. It's a tourist hellhole & I won't set foot there even if I'm paid.

Btw, we live just outside San Francisco, so I'm happy to return the favor & provide many suggestions for those who gravitate towards The Complex-type nightspots. There are a few you might like & shockingly, they're not on every street corner.
