Reports say a 2 year deal worth 26 million. I was hoping they'd get him, glad they did.
With Beltran and Berkman, now all we need is Oswalt, Biggio and Bagwell and we'll pretty much be the 2004 Astros.

I love this signing. I'm ok with the amount of the contract since we only went two years. The killer B's of Berkman, Beltran and ...... Boggs!

Yeah, we paid him a litter more per year as not to got to a third and I think that was clearly the right call.
I really like the signing.

Re: Cards Sign Beltran
Saw in the P-D that with Beltran, Holliday and Berkman, the Cardinals have 3 of the top 10 OPS guys in the league from last year and Beltran's OPS was slightly higher than Albert's. There's no downside to this signing.
Mozeliak said they'd probably slot Beltran in at the no. 2 position in the lineup. So you've got...
Furcal
Beltran
Holliday
Berkman
Freese
Molina
Jay
Craig/Schu/2B
Pitcher
That's not much of a drop off from last year if you ask me.

This signing is potentially great. He's not going to replace Pujols' production of the last decade. But, it's very possible that Pujols himself won't be doing that either. If Beltran is healthy (that's my only concern), I think we'll have a comparable lineup to last year.
