I watched the game on DVR last night, a couple hours behind live tv. So I turn on NHL Network to watch highlights/recaps from the game. I watched it for 40 minutes and they seemingly recapped and showed highlights from every game twice...EXCEPT the Blues game. They never showed it. I finally set it to record the rest of it and the next episode and went to bed...I'll see what they had to say about the game later. What the hell? Anyone else notice they didn't seem to care to show the highlights from the Blues-Oilers game? Stupid.

I was watching before work this morning and about 45 mins into the show they finally showed the highlights and had a short interview with Jaro. But that was a pretty sizable comeback to stick in the 2nd to last segment of the show.

Jackman has been very good this year. I keep waiting for him to falter and turn in some bad games and cost us some goals with bonehead plays, but that's not happening. THIS is the Jackman we need...I'm back on his bandwagon. Solid and in your face...doesn't take any crap from anyone and he is simply playing well.

This is what has always frustrated me.

I know you really hated Brewer...but IMO Brewer sucked and we simply expected too much from him.

Jackman has the ability to be good...very good....and has generally chosen not to.

I know know what's got him motivated right now, but I certainly hope he keeps it up. He's fun to watch when he's playing like this.

As for the goalies, I too have felt more confident in Eliot all season long but have always thought if we were really going to not just make the playoffs, but make a run in the playoffs we'ed need Halak to find his 'A' game. He had played so confident lately I thought perhaps we were about to see that. Instead we got another inconsistent game out of him.

Jackman is easier to get behind and support because he wears his emotion on his sleeve. He plays with emotion, he'll get in a guys face, he'll knock someone on their ass and give them an extra shot, and chew someone out with a killer stare and defend a teammate to the death. He has other qualities that a fan can support.

And that's my beef....somehow he turns that off from time to time (or even season to season). How can this be the same guy that was sitting in the corners watching play in front of the nets last year? It's frustrating as hell. An IMO his 'stares' and punching guys in the face AFTER officals get between them are meaningless when he's playing like that.

As of today, he's not playing like that....he's actually playing as if he gives a crap for the first time in years.

Maybe Hitch told Jacks to forget about what that pussy Tkadonuts told him and to be more ballsy out there. Remember, Hitchcock's heyday in Dallas involved two very dirty defensemen, Derian Hatcher and Craig Ludwig.

You need some dirty, old school d-men to be bastards out there. Pie isn't going to do it (damn, I wish!) so it's up to Jacks and Polak to get it done. Carlo too, to a certain extent.

Great teams can afford a penalty or three. A few crosschecks and slashes to certain body parts can really wear an opponent down over the course of a 7 game series. The 'Cock is old school in that regard.

Man, I wish Pie were more like Chopper in that regard.

Brewer never did any of that.
Not only did he suck in costing us goals and making horrible plays, but he brought nothing else to the table. He didn't play with a fire in his eyes, he didn't knock guys around or intimidate anyone or play the role of the bad ass, or even act upset if something went wrong. He came off as just not caring...which I am sure isn't the case, but it just looks bad. I can't root for that crap. He sucked, plus he was passive and boring. He is the Dan Quinn of defense.

Right before Edmonton scored their first goal, Smyth had a couple of run-ins with Backes (and the crap with Perron). With about 15 seconds left on the power play and Smyth stuck in the crease, Jackman flat punched him in the back of the head to drop him to the ice (though I think Smyth flopped a little). Then when Smyth tried to get back up, Jackman punched him in the back of the head again and sent him back down.

It was my favorite moment from the entire game, including the comeback. It was pretty nice seeing him play with the chip on his shoulder that I don't think we've really seen since the lockout.

I (Franking) went to sleep maybe 2 minutes before 's goal. Goddammit.... In any event, nice way to comeback in the 3rd period, it's happened a couple times recently if memory serves me and lord knows this is something the Blues were totally incapable of doing under Payne and, especially, Murray. I like the way things are looking going forward, except for our current injury woes.... but hopefully they can make some subtle moves at the deadline that shore up the offense, and Stewart appears to finally be breaking out of his funk so that helps a lot.

Apparently Polak got Hall pretty good and he needed 8 stitches.... still a shit call.

Should have been a double minor for high sticking... not a 5 minute slash and a game misconduct.

I'm surprised he needed 8 stitches because it didn't look like he hit him very hard, just a stray stick. But, yeah, 4 minutes, not 5 + game IMO.
