I too am in favor of a trade. Unfortunately, I don't see anything big happening unless the ownership thing miraculously gets solved before the deadline.

Why are they predicting March if the deal is a certainty at this point?

Everyone is talking about a trade for a scorer, but what about a trade for a playmaker? Sorry if someone has already posted this on here, I'm not bogarting your idea. But we've got guys with the ability to score but just aren't right now. Perron, Berglund, Stewart. Getting McDonald back will be one thing, but if you get a bona-fide setup guy to go on a line with, say, Berglund and Stewart, goals could start pouring in.

Every year, we say we need a scorer. We thought we got one last year in Stewart. And honestly, he should be, but his numbers have gone through the floor this year. It's rare that a top line scorer is available during the trade deadline, so a playmaking center might be more of an easier 'get.'

Just a thought.

Although you have some good points, its a scorer we need. They have had an unbelievable amount of good chances where they should score, but they just don't. Either they wait an instant too long to release the shot, or they just can't get the puck on net or over the goaltender from close in. It all shows up in the shootouts. Their record there is pathetic.

It's not like the Blues just played Pekka Rinne, everyone knows how good he is, or Jonathan Quick in the past two games. Quick is 4th in GAA and Save Pct this season.

The Blues were getting chances. IMO, the goaltending just happened to be better.

I think I'd be for either one. Anything to improve this team's offense. It's not like management will balk at a good playmaker if he's available at the deadline for a good price.

Can Tarasenko opt out of the rest of his current contract and join the team now? As much as we pine for a trade I don't think one is on the horizon.

Yes, let's trade Dirk, Momesso, Ronning, and Courtnall for Garth Butcher and Dan Quinn. That should turn out great!

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the idea of acquiring a playmaker.

The Blues generate a ton of chances, but the vast majority of them aren't set up by a great play, they are just shots on net with rebounds.

For example...Perron is really the only forward who will look for that backdoor pass across the grain through traffic to a guy breaking as he is skating out towards the blueline. He sees that play...he looks for that play, and connects on it sometimes.
The Blues generate a ton of scoring chances through hard work and their system...but few scoring chances are set up because of stellar playmaking.

McDonald is a guy who could fill the role of a playmaker, if he ever gets back.
But I wouldn't be upset if they targeted a playmaker in a trade instead of a "goal scorer". He'd probably cost less to acquire and could net the same result.
