Chicago definitely did not "lay down" in Game 6. They were flat out dominating the Coyotes through the 1st two periods and Mike Smith stole the win. Shots on goal were 28-8 in favor of Chicago after two periods. The Coyotes looked like they were on their heels and in trouble. Yet they end those first two periods with a 1-0 lead. In the 3rd, the Blackhawks were worn out and probably very dejected with all the work from the 1st two periods earning them nothing. It was like Mike Smith stole their will.
In the Western conference, it seemed to me the goalies who were better at eliminating 2nd chance opportunities won their series. Smith, Elliott, Rinne and Quick are all exceptional at not surrendering rebounds. And what did we hear repeatedly from the Sharks about what they needed to do to win? Get 2nd chance opportunities which were almost non-existent.
Looks like the Western Conference Semi-Finals are going to be some low scoring games.

Agreed the brought it last nigh, I was referring to the series as a whole.
It just looked to me that the Hawks were the better team, but they just didn't want it enough shift in and shit out.
I obviously didn't follow that series nearly as much as the Blues, it's just the impression I got from what I did observe.

I think it's as simple as Chicago just getting poor goaltending. Two of the overtime goals Crawford allowed were horrible...and he failed to come up with many big saves game 6.DaDitka wrote:theohall wrote:Chicago definitely did not "lay down" in Game 6. That's the truth. Look at the goalies remaining in the West- our guy and the 3 guys we really didn't want to have to face if we could avoid it- Quick, Rinne, and Smith. Essentially, these are the 4 goalies in the West who have stepped up their games and are a huge reason their teams are where they are now.theohall wrote:Chicago definitely did not "lay down" in Game 6. So far, this postseason has proved that defense and goaltending win championships. And ours is the best.
