Tarasenko to make a decision on next season soon?
According to a retweet by Jeremy Rutherford:
@plysenkov: #STLBlues prospect Tarasenko told me he will announce his decision whether he'll play in the NHL next season after the Worlds.

He will announce his decision at some time. In the future. Not now.

Tarasenko is thinking one of two things whilst watching the current playoff round.
A. Holy shit, I don't want to be a part of this clusterfvck.
or
B. Holy shit, if I was there this clusterfvck wouldn't be happening.
I hope it's choice B.

He'll stay, just like every other majorly-hyped Russian that we pick.

He will stay. As will the rest of them. The money is there in Russia now. We aren't going to give him nearly enough cash to come over here and play. He never had any intention of coming to the states to play.

Unfortunately, I have to agree. He has no intention of playing here. I hope I'm wrong.not_a_wings_fan wrote:He will stay. As will the rest of them. The money is there in Russia now. The equation I believe he's going to consider:
Money in Russia
+
Stanley Cup in America
+
I go to America, win Cup, I make more money in Russia.
=
"Coach Hitch, what my jersey number be?"
End of story.

But we'll keep thinking we're shrewd drafters, even though we keep throwing away money and resources on players that will never play here. I'd rather just pass on the dumb picks instead of taking Russians. At least that's free.

Re: Tarasenko to make a decision on next season soon?
He could give a (Frank) about the stanley cup. Seriously, he plays for money or he would have been in the NHL years ago.
The new KHL Stipend he gets is more than the entry contract he would get here AND he pays MUCH lower taxes. It's a (Franking) no brainer to stay in Russia.
Besides, his family won't be killed or held hostage if he stays.
I would stay if I were him.

Re: Tarasenko to make a decision on next season soon?
I disagree with all those talking about big money in Russia for Tarasenko. I mean you can get paid handsomely but you have to be an established star for that. He is still just a young talent who did really well for an outsider club and then for a top club... while playing on its fourth line. He recently flopped during Eurotour so there's talk of inconsistency, yada yada yada. So did Kuznetsov, by the way.
So Tarasenko is not getting paid huge $$$, not yet anyway. He will eventually get paid big bucks, whether he comes over to the NHL or stays in KHL. I think that the Blues ownership situation might have him worried - why risk going abroad if the club is in limbo if you have a solid place at a top-tier club in Russia?
Kuznetsov is a bit different. From what I read, he and people around him think that he has not matured enough to be in NHL and I guess he doesn't want to start out in AHL.

I don't think he's getting big bucks there. He's getting more than he would get in the AHL here, but less than he would get in the NHL (at least if he becomes a star).
Who knows what his actual motivations are? Maybe he loves it in Russia and doesn't want to leave. Maybe he wants a chance to win the Cup. Any opinions on the matter are pretty much completely speculation. Whatever his motivations are, I hope they lead him to the Blues.

Re: Tarasenko to make a decision on next season soon?
The stuff I have seen suggests he's making almost 3 mil per year and paying jack shit for taxes on it. It's not just the dollar figure, it's the costs as well. He won't get an entry contract that will pay him that much in the NHL, and if he's just going to ride a bus for a year he won't come over either.
@goon - he would have left russia two years ago if the stanley cup/playing in the USA was important to him. As far as ego - you really think he would get more ass over here than what he is pulling in Russia? Cause I am sure he's got more poon, less supervision, and mafia contacts at home.

cons: leaving home, taxes, uncertainty
pros: American ass, glory, reputation, the Stanley Cup
I think he'll go for it... mainly for the prospect of a ton of drunk American sluts bouncing up and down on his lap in hotel rooms across America.
