From Their Perspective - Wings @ Blues 1/19

Post by Kreegz2 »

I forget who used to post these regularly, but I always enjoyed reading them. I just took a trip to LGW and finished reading through their GDT. It's hilarious how unused to losing they are:

http://www.letsgowings.com/forums/topic ... s-blues-6/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It will be weird as hell seeing us without Nick and Homer but it should be a fun season either way. I say 3-1 good guys! GO WINGS!
Wings win 14-3. Goal and 13 assists for Datsyuk.
Im stuck with the blues broadcast... because they won the division last year... GM of th eyear, and Coach of the year... theyre treating this damn thing like they won the stanley cup.. haha jeez...
that was quite the pathetic powerplay.
I hope Kronwall has Backes as his number one target.
Would love to see Tootoo drop them with Backes.
Well we are getting thoroughly dominated so far. Getting out of our zone in a controlled fashion just seems impossible right now, and we're losing just about every one-on-one battle.
The Blues forecheck is relentless. A lot of size and speed up front on that team.

I would love to have a player like Backes.
how the hell is tarasenko all alone... ugh... unreal.
Wow, Quincey, wow...

Just wow.
That was Lebdariffic.
Blues look so much more energized.
Someone should go over there and punch that fat idiot Polak in the face. He fired that slapshot after the whistle blew.
Colaiacovo out for the season.
Colaiacovo: the walking injury report
This is a clinic... and the Wings are not doing the schooling.
Here comes out PK, hopefully this won't be as bad as everything else that's been out there so far.
is this the feeling the islanders fans feel every game?
Well this period has been spectacular. Can we just go back to the lockout?
And the sack of s*** scores against us.

I wish Bertuzzi would paralyze this guy.
This has been a pathetic effort so far by the Wings. If this is what's in store for the next 47... I want the lockout back.
We may see a cup-contender here, but its not the team wearing the red and white jerseys
Wow, our defense sucks. Just completely sucks. Another Blues PP..

here comes 3-0.
Come on ... that wasnt a dive.. that was interference all the god damn way. accept it, this team is getting out played, they know it, that was a play made out of total desperation by our hapless D.
We are getting owned. Combo of both the Wings flat and the Blues are bringing it.

PS. The way this game is going they don't need Redden

Seriously
A lot of over reaction going on right now. The Wings are just rusty, things will pick up in the 2nd period.
Ok. Im glad youre willing to admit that losing to the best team in the league, arguably, on opening night isnt the end of the world.
Im so sick of listening to this idiot, and darren pang all over the jock of Tarasenko in this broadcast already...

I wish I could get FS-D here in Canada...

Damn..
I'm ok with losing to the best team in the league, but there's a difference between losing and getting dominated.
Haha Quincey is a joke. Man I'm done trying to defend him. He is absoutely awful.
And apparently now I see why theyre all over his jock... unreal.
Quincey getting undressed by the rookie.
So they have more goals than we have shots.
Quincey is brutal. Wow.
I am not even going to blame it on rust. The Blues look mid season form, Red Wings look like soft Euros...
I love that people were giving me endless s*** a couple years ago when I said the Blues were shaping up to be a real good team. Lot of people changing their tune now; lot of people unwilling to look at reality and critically think about how things will look in the long run before. And a lot of those same people not surprisingly are the ones who didn't think the Wings had anything to worry about.
This team simply doesn't give a s***, getting totally outhit and outworked.
Wow just terrible. We are the biggest perimeter team.
It's got to be a comforting feeling when playing against the Wings knowing that when there's a scrum, you really don't have to be afraid of anyone.
To say we suck tonight would be insulting to things that suck, like Justin Bieber, Kim Kardashian, and Dyson vacuum cleaners.
Here we go. Power play time, let's try and get it in their zone, and maybe even get a shot!
2:00 of failed entry upcoming.
Have to score on this PP.
alright this powerplay isn't too bad. Decent looking.
Our defense isf****** pathetic.

This is going to be a longf****** season.

Unreal.

Anotherf****** breakaway.
This might be the worst Wings game I have ever watched.
I could be out getting laid right now, instead I'm sitting here watching this s***.
Oh for f***s sake, just as I was about to say "at least we're getting some chances this PP".
I'm buying a Blues jersey after this one.
My wife left the room about 10 min ago because I "looked very angry".
I have an idea for a fun game. Everyone guess

a) which Wing will score first
b) who will get the first assists
c) which month it will happen in
the honest fact is that we are not on the Blues level simple as that
Yup, 7 shots, through 2 periods, with 4 goals against.

Pathetic doesnt even begin to describe it.
Another forward, in behind all of our defense....

what af****** joke.

Just pathetic.

Thats what... 4 times now?
how the hell do we keep giving up these breakaways???
Walked out of the room to go to the bathroom. Figured the game would start while I was gone. Then figured it'd be 5-0 by the time I got back. What do you know...
Crowd chanting "Detroit Sucks!" Frick that crowd, what do they know? Oh wait....tonight, they just may be right...
What's the penalty for? The ref was shocked a player in white attempted to hit someone
tootoo gets a 10 minute misconduct????

Wow.. what a joke the NHL has become.
Tootoo gets screwed by the refs.
Tootoo gets kicked out for being a hockey player.

Than you Bettman for making this a worse league. They tossed him because he might get into a fight later.

What a freaking joke hockey has become.
So, this is what fans of bad teams feel like? I don't like it. I don't like it at ALL!
Sure, he left his feet... but he didnt hit anyone...

its only a penalty if he leaves his feet, and actually hits someone.

Its ridiculous that they threw him out of the game for it.
4 PP goals against... what af****** joke.
6-0. Unbelievable. So we're 1 for 5 on the PK now?????? Just checking.
St Louis could put the 4th line out on the powerplay and still score.
Good thing i'm at work right now. I'd have probably destroyed my new 60" plasma by now.
Watched a few highlights from other games. They are starkly different. I know we love hyperbole in bad games, but the Wings honestly look like a minor league team. Even the stars look like rookies. Holy crap.
(this last one's my favorite)
Jackman is lucky the ref stepped in there.

Franzen would have dropped him.

This makes me giddy. I love flashchat but it's why I wish our GDT threads were more populated during games, so they can come here and see us reveling in their misery.

I love these, especially in baseball season when the cubs fans come out in full force.

I will be honest, I give them props for that, and also realizing their team isn't quite what it used to be. When the Blues sucked balls and the Wings were the class of the league, I tried to find every excuse to crap on their accomplishments. It's a brave new world for Wings fans.

I was laughing when reading the LGW GDT thread.
They are freaking out.
I don't want to get too cocky as it's only one game, but I'm not sure why they would be shocked & appalled at the outcome, unless they just haven't been paying attention lately.

- Did any so called "expert" pick Detroit to finish ahead of the Blues? One of the guys on the LGW podcast picked them to miss the playoffs all together.
- They've lost so much talent over the past few years, and replaced them with nothing.
- The 6-0 score was a bit of a surprise, but it just magnifies how weak Detroit is right now.
- Detroit's defense as a whole looked terrible.
- Howard looked lost (not a surprise to me as I feel he is overrated).
- Datsyuk and Zetterberg looked old, slow and were a non-factor.
- Did Franzen even play? Oh yeah, I remember he puffed his chest at Jackman once.
- Halak was on his game, which was impressive considering he wasn't hardly tested until halfway through the game. He made a few semi-tough saves when he had to, but other than that, most were routine as our defense didn't give them much at all.
- Detroit may have had sustained pressure in the game...maybe once or twice?

I'm not saying Redden would have been "the answer" for them, but they sure as hell could use him, they look so bad on defense. I'm not sure why they publicly came out and said they weren't interested in him before we got him. But whatever. It's not like they have been making great decisions lately...

I was laughing on goals 4, 5 & 6. It just wasn't fair. It was like we were playing an AHL team last night.
Maybe it's our turn to have the 20 year run in the Central? 1 down, 19 to go.

With all that said, I expect Detroit to get better when they've played a few more games. They can't get much worse.

haha, I've been reading that thread off and on all day. It was pretty funny to see just how quickly they lost all hope. Before it started, they thought they were going to win. By first intermission, they thought the game was over. When Tarasenko scored in the 2nd, they decided the season was over and were talking about their draft pick next year lol.

This was my favorite post in the thread:

I was all over LGW this morning. Good ish right there. If last night wasn't a fluke and the Wings are as bad as they appear right now, I will love to see how many people fall off the bandwagon the next couple of years during their overhaul.

As much as I want to believe that the result of the game last night was strictly because the Blues have a great team, and I do have high hopes for them this year, honestly I think the Red Wings are about to feel the pain their opponents have felt the last 20 years, if last night is a representative sample.

He's more of a "fan". He never watches games, he hardly follows them. He didn't know Lidstrom retired, he didn't know Z was named Captain. He hardly followed the lockout. He's a classic bandwagon Wings fan.

I think the Wings will be just that bad. I hardly expect a 6-0 outcome tomorrow, suffice to say. Detroit could be the worst team in the central.

I wouldn't go that far. Although that would be hilarious.

Best case scenario is for them to just miss the playoffs. No postseason and no top 5 pick.

Those posts made me lol multiple times. Honestly though, I'm not the type of fan that really enjoys another team's misery. I'm more happy for the Blues' success than I am with the Red Wings struggling. I'll talk up the Blues all day long but I'm not going to go out of my way and rip on the Red Wings or any other team or their fans. All in all, they seemed pretty humbled over there on LGW. It shows a level of class, which I respect. They could have been whining and making excuses but for the most part they weren't. It's great to be in the position the Blues are, but we still haven't won anything yet. Hopefully our time has finally arrived though and the Blues keep on rolling.
