As of right now these figures speak for themselves, top five. Call it larger goalies, larger equipment, or defensive systems. Then look back at previous playoff MVP performances by a goalie.
1. Tomas Vokoun, PIT .957
2. Corey Crawford, CHI .950
3. Craig Anderson, OTT .950
4. Jonathan Quick, LA .944
5. Braden Holtby, WSH .938
1997 Conn Smythe Winner
Mike Vernon .927
The simplest solution in my mind is increase net size. That way the players union cant cry foul about safety and equipment.
Thoughts?
Save percentages too high, not enough scoring in playoffs.

I'm with you, as long as the goalies equipment stays the same.
It would be unfair though to the smaller goalies.
Also; how do you explain the goalies in that Pens-Flyers series last year?

I am pretty sure this is more about defensive systems and technique than goalie equipment.
I really don't think we need to do anything about this issue.
Anything the NHL decides to do will only screw things up more.

I'm wondering if Dominik Hasek started the whole 'larger equipment' trend because his stats were at .950 when everyone else was struggling to make .900-.905 at that time.

Re: Save percentages too high, not enough scoring in playoff
Go watch the footage from the Monday Night Miracle in the other thread... the equipment is clearly smaller, but the technique is CLEARLY different. Is there a goalie left in the league that does NOT play butterfly? That change alone bumped save percentages.
Also, look how much space there is on the ice in the defensive zones. Teams in the playoffs stick to their men like glue and clog lanes better.

Would be nice if the ice surface was bigger, but there's no way that will happen when you have to take out rows of seats.
Im dumb, but I'd think more space would equal more goals.
