Post by JPonder94 »

On the last edition of the current format, hosts Jeff Ponder and Justin Wilson fill you in on the Brenden Morrow signing. Discussion also includes the Tim Thomas situation in Florida and the brawl North of the border. We also say our goodbyes and welcome in the new format for Lets Go Blues Radio.

As always, thank you so much everyone for your contributions!

Thanks for keeping me interested in hockey this summer. I've enjoyed listening to this while at work. This show has actually increased my knowledge and love for the NHL. Looking forward to catching your new show.

Good job guys! :okman:

I don't understand why it would be so hard to make the new format work as a downloadable podcast. Can't you just capture the audio as it happens and post it as a podcast?

On a Mac I use a program called Audio Hijack. It will turn any sound on your computer into an MP3. I'm sure there is something that does the exact same thing on a PC.

I'm a few episodes behind, and haven't been paying as much attention in the offseason, but where I stand, I'm not going to be able to listen live to the new show, and I'm not engaged enough to listen to a show about the entire NHL. I get plenty of NHL news from all over. I just want a show about the Blues. Or rather, at least 75% about the Blues.

The problem lies in "hosting" the audio. You need a site that will host the media file in order for iTunes or Google Play to grab it and make it available in their media player. That costs money each month, which Curt and I have been paying, but with me paying for it with the new show and unknowing how often we will do these live shows with members of LGB.com, making the financial commitment each month becomes difficult.

You can still stream the live shows; you won't need to sit and listen each time the show is recorded at that moment. If you ever go to the front page and listen to the show by streaming (not using iTunes or any outside outlet), the live show will work in the same way. It is quite literally a YouTube clip that will be featured on this website. It will be there as long as this site exists, so it can be replayed as much as you want.

Hopefully this helps.

Yeah, what Ponder said.
We have been using a host specifically for podcasting so as not to overload the bandwidth here, and it's worked great.

And we don't need a special program to extract the audio because we use Google+ Hangouts for the shows (video conferencing/chatting)...which automatically sends the video to Youtube when it's over. Once on Youtube, you can extract the audio from the video and download it. Which we always did. And then it was edited in post production, converted to .mp3 and uploaded to the podcast host. I think it was a great solution.

And yeah, the new show will be live, but it will still be available to listen to, or watch, after it's over. We'll keep them all and link to them all...they'll be on Youtube.

Youtube channels have RSS feeds, but...they do not work with iTunes or Feedburner. We have an RSS feed on the home page though...so you can still get feeds of the show in a feed reader through the home page here.
