Nice.
Schwartz added two assists and also received a fighting major in the third period to record a ''Gordie Howe hat trick,'' a goal, assist and a fighting major in the same game named after the former Detroit Red Wings great.

The mild-mannered Schwartz joked that his last fight came at Colorado College as a 17-year-old.

He stood toe-to-toe with Kris Versteeg late in the third period. His teammates placed a piece of tape with ''Gordie'' above his locker after the game.

That was...fun. Like, a lot of fun.

I mean, I have no earthly idea whether we're this good or not, or whether these two opponents aren't good. But, over the past few years, this game on Wednesday we lose big. The crowd gets excited, everyone is fired up, and Chicago hands us our hat. Maybe this one will be different.

It's hard to know this early where teams stand. I look at the Nashville game and I saw a Blues team that really wasn't playing all that dominate after the first 10 minutes of the game. They actually played rather passively and still managed a win. I don't think the Panthers are a great team but I don't think they're terrible either. We throttled them for 60 minutes. Just the distribution of offense is exciting to me. 7 goals is a lot of goals, even if it's against a bad team.

They just need to play the same way against the big teams. They tend to tense up when facing the Chicago's of the league; they almost get too defensive, never wanting to make a mistake but they simultaneously stunt the offense. Hopefully they're gaining more confidence in the offense, especially after this last game, and are able to leverage that into a more balanced attack. It's all mental against these teams. The skill is absolutely there to compete if they just deploy it.
