The Blues found their legs about 13 minutes into The 1st Period, and were competitive through the end of The 2nd. They started to deteriorate near the beginning of The 3rd, and spent most of that period chasing The Canucks and the puck. They are now 0-12 in goals for-goals against in the 3rd Period of the 4 games that have counted since the Pandemic Break, and 0-14, if we add in the game vs. The Hawks. That CAN'T be a coincidence. And we can't account for that with the excuse that the games "didn't count". The Blues are still not in top playing shape (just like Boston), and the teams that they've been playing have been in better shape, and also have had their players in better sync, as well. The good news is that The Blues were quite a bit better in this game for most of the first 2 periods than they were in the 3 Round Robin games. I doubt that they'll be ALL the way back next game. But, let's hope they play inspired, and win it, anyway. Going down 0-2 would be a big problem.

It's not as bad as my normal regular season viewing. Those games usually start at 2:00 AM. I'm trapped in Sandman land, in L.A., for the rest of the playoffs. Tonight this game started for me at 7:45. After most Blues' games, I stay up all night, and first go to sleep around 4:45 to 5:00 AM. Good thing I work alone, at home, with no need to communicate with co-workers at any specific time.Portland Blues wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 11:27 pmThat sucked. I feel bad for those of you in the Central time zone that stayed up until 12:30.
Nevertheless, I hope The Blues will step up and win the next game, and the series, so watching can be a more pleasant experience for us Blues fans.

Greetings from the Pacific time zone Robb! I'm just north of you in Oregon so the late games don't bother me since they usually start around 7:30. I'm self employed and work from home too so luckily no one else has to hear me complain about how poorly the game turned out.Robb_K wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 11:55 pmIt's not as bad as my normal regular season viewing. Didn't get to watch because the game was on stupid NBC Sports and I don't pay for cable, but from the radio feed it sounds like penalties were the difference in this game. Can anyone comment on whether they were warranted or not?

A couple of the tripping calls were really weak. The one on Bozak - stick on stick and the Canucks player trips over his own skates. The MacEachern one off the face off - he was just skating and the Vancouver guy falls over MacEachern's skate. Really bad calls, IMO.
Difference in the game, their best players were better than the Blues best players. Also, the Blues really need their 4th line back - MacMac/De La Rose/Brouwer is way too slow to keep up with even the Canucks 4th line.
Faulking Fualk kept passing the puck to white jerseys, too, which didn't help.
