Not a good start to the playoffs for the Blues. Hope he clears before game 1.

Read an article somewhere last night that said he actually did end up having covid.

He did. Said he had some symptoms for the first handful of days and then those went away.Portland Blues wrote: ↑Wed May 26, 2021 12:03 pmRead an article somewhere last night that said he actually did end up having covid.![]()
He and the other 2 on the COVID list vaccinated. I don't know if those details make me feel better or worse about the whole thing.

I don't get the "vaccinated" but testing positive after thing? Was the positive test within 1 week of being vaccinated - either shot? Because that would make sense. If not, what vaccine did he and Walman get and should the rest of us be concerned?

Re: Perron in Covid protocol
It's been documented that people still can and do get COVID after being vaccinated, even after the 2nd dose and waiting time. It's not 100% effective (I believe the advertised effectiveness is 94%). The idea is it reduces your odds of contracting the virus, so that with enough of the population either having already had COVID naturally (thus having antibodies) or having the vaccine, the virus is unable to spread through the population rapidly enough to perpetuate itself, and it eventually becomes a statistically insignificant threat. It's a process that takes a bit of time, so in the meantime there will be people in all categories (those who have already had COVID, those who are unvaccinated, and those who are vaccinated) who still get COVID. Their odds of contracting it vary, naturally. If you were to put a vaccinated person and an unvaccinated person in a broom closet with a COVID-positive person, the vaccinated person, on average, has a lower chance of contracting COVID than unvaccinated person, but those odds are definitely not zero. The funny thing is, in that situation, there is a statistical chance the vaccinated person could catch COVID while the unvaccinated person does not.
I hate to make the analogy, but it's kind of like rolling dice in an old fashioned role playing game like D&D. Let's say you are exposed to COVID and have to roll a 100-sided die to see if you catch it. If you are vaccinated or have had COVID already, you roll the 100-sided die and if you roll 6 or lower, you catch COVID. If you roll 7 or higher, you do not catch it. If you are unvaccinated, the number is more like 30- if you roll 30 or lower you catch COVID. If you roll 31 or higher you do not catch it.
Very long story short (sorry about that), it is definitely possible to catch COVID after being vaccinated. Whether you should be concerned or not is really up to you- it depends on how at risk you personally are.
