Making a joke based on the fact that there are huge problems in the black community regarding stable families is racist how exactly?
So you'd have no problem telling a joke about the huge problems in the black community, to a black man?

Maybe once in a while it could be funny, but it's being run into the ground.

I voted "YES" but I also believe that if people want to make the joke, they should be able to. We're all big boys here. No need for any action to be taken by moderators.

Whoopi Goldberg publicly supported Mel Gibson, saying she knows he isn't a racist, even though he is on tape saying he hopes his baby momma "get's raped by a pack of niggers". Since that comment, both Tracy Morgan and Chris Rock have both been on Stern and both disappointed Howard by saying they have no bad feelings for Mel and would work with him in the future.

By the way, as I wrote the previous post, I was reminded of something that has bothered me from the beginning here. As I look to the left, I see the "smiles". Some of these I find quite offensive.
Hawks suck: Obviously referring to Black Hawks. I'm sure you know that the hockey franchise is named after a Native American tribe. Aren't you afraid any Native American lurking in this forum may be offended. I'm 1/16 Cherokee and I am.
Moran: This is obviously a veiled attempt at being funny while calling someone a moron. Definition as follows:
mo·ron (môrn, mr-)
n.
1. A stupid person; a dolt.
2. Psychology A person of mild mental retardation having a mental age of from 7 to 12 years and generally having communication and social skills enabling some degree of academic or vocational education. The term belongs to a classification system no longer in use and is now considered offensive.
Note the end of the definition about being offensive. You don't think there are any parents of special needs kids "lurking"?

Beating a dead horse: This one particularly gives me douche chills. There is ABSOLUTELY nothing funny about images of animal abuse of any kind.

These are all LGB sponsored smiles, not brought in from outside sources. I truly hope Curt will do the right thing and eliminate these offensive smiles prontisimo. If not, I hope all of you will voluntarily refrain from using these horrible things. I'm asking nicely. After all, we don't want Native Americans, the handicapped, or Peta thinking less of this board.

I don't like the A. Nigro jokes either. I understand how they can be funny and all to some people, I just will not be making any of the jokes. I remember one of the A. Nigro threads someone commented the it looked like a Klan rally, that's exactly what I thought too. I've got friends who use the N word and any other degrading term for minorities or anyone all the time. They don't call them self racists, but I do. That said if you like the jokes, I don't care, say what you want. It's a free country, you should be able to say what you want. I'll think of you as a racist redneck, but I'll still be your friend :okman:

I too am of American Indian descent & am highly offended. Damn round eyes. Can't believe you had the balls to just celebrate ANOTHER columbus day. WTF is that all about? Black history month? Another slap to the face. Might as well just send blankets again and get it over with.

How is that relevant?

I'm not questioning whether or not a black person would be offended by any of this. I'm merely questioning whether or not it is "racist"... Of course some people will have knee jerk reactions to it... we have all been trained to walk on eggshells regarding this issue. Yes, the history is there and it's ugly, but the damn sensitivity has gone way too far. If somebody cracks a jokes about my ethnicity, I could not care less... I'm proud of my heritage. I actually think it is funny when somebody makes a jokes about my "people"

If you strongly believe in this, just use the word filter and ban the damn phrase.

I just don't think it is racist.

If your only qualm is whether it's "racist" or just "offensive," then you can win this one, goon. You're right. It's not racist. It's just offensive to people of a particular race

Doesn't change the fact that it's garbage that is detrimental to the board.

That's totally subjective. I think the cracks are sometimes funny. Then again, I don't come in here all that much.

It could be detrimental to the board regarding a hypothetical situation, e.g. somebody pops in here and is offended and doesn't join up when they might have and that person would have been a bitchin' contributor to this internet message board community

On the other hand, censoring jokes that are harmless might alienate people already here and they might leave.

I see your point; that's all I can say.

peace

btw, if some hotter than balls chick with luscious cans and a world-class turdcutter didn't come in here due to the Nigro thing, well, then you'd have me on board in banning that lamer than hell joke in 2 freaking seconds.

Should we now call him A. African-American?

There's an ebonics joke in there so I guess not.

They had an argument over if black face was racist. Hilarious.
