Oshie's pass got blocked off and I think that Steen was expecting Backes to take the shot and appeared almost startled when he's suddenly getting a drop pass to him five feet in front of the net!

Kick it in the ass this last period, settle down, play hard... let's go.

Only bright spot was Perron getting a goal. For the most part, the rest of the team looked like ass.

Overall impressions:

1) Not Elliott's fault tonight. At all. Every goal was either a very good shot when he was getting screened or he just got beat on a two on one off a turnover or whatever. His team failed in front of him tonight. Not his fault. (Only thing I'll say is that Elliott had a crap angle on Hossa's 2 on 1 but that was it. And that break wasn't his fault if his d-man doesn't make a lazy cross-ice pass where he's eyeing down his target

2) GOD Perron is sick. I've forgotten how good this kid is. Shifty, ton of energy every moment of this game and his goal was him putting on a clinic in patience in front of the net. He was the best player on the ice tonight for the Blues.

3) SHOOT ON NET!!! I wouldn't be shocked if we had 20 missed shots tonight. And many of these weren't the typical "NHL shooting for the corner and it went wide" it was that we couldn't get the damn thing on net. And Stewart just has to bury that empty-netter, those are just gut-wrenching.

4) Where'd the fire go? 3rd period looked better but honestly I was witnessing a defeated team in the 2nd period. That first period was amazing: great passes, great hussle, we were hitting anything wearing white... just great. I don't know what all of a sudden changed but the energy just drained from the place in the 2nd period and lazy play cost us this game.

Hopefully this was a learning experience for these guys because it did not look pretty and the Hawks kind of put on a clinic in veteran play starting with the 2nd period.

Trying not to be all over Perron's jock but, does he not create more room for himself and others around him? As terrible as tonights game was I can at least sleep well believing DP will get the offense on track ( which means 2.2 gpg for the blues).

Hawks played last night too. They got to their hotel an hour and a half before the Blues got to theirs. No excuse on that front.
