Re: offseason
so Faksa and two guys named Joseph
uses up about half of our available cap space
buch extension starts after next season so doesn't affect this upcoming year's payroll
getting the third back mitigates the Hayes dump somewhat

Re: offseason
Interesting moves. Essentially swapping Hayes and a 2nd for Joseph, faksa and a third.
They must have really not liked Hayes game, because they traded for two guys who on the surface, look likely to produce less than him, one of which makes almost as much as Hayes.
Maybe they think they can flip faksa at the deadline for a pick since he’s big, and by then his salary cap hit won’t be too much.
Glad to see Buchy back. Probably a mill too much aav and probably a year or two too long, but it is what it is. I would hope most of the contract should play out well.

Re: offseason
I'm hoping they're able to flip Faska and Kapanen at the deadline because that would mean a few things, as far as I'm concerned.
First, it would mean that they're sure that Dvorsky is ready. I don't think he'll make the team out of camp. From what I've heard, he's got some stuff to work on and if he can be ready around February or March just to get his NHL experience underway that sounds good to me.
Second, it would mean that they're going to be ready to roll with Snuggerud when he's done with his season. It may be only a few games but they can have someone already in Springfield hold a spot for him until he's done with the college season.
Third, it would possibly mean that they're ready to roll with someone in Springfield or want to give a look to a few guys in Springfield. Juraj Pekarcik, Jakub Stancl, Dylan Peterson, Simon Robertsson, these names jump out to me as guys who could earn a look with a strong season and then fight it out for an available spot or two next season as bottom six players.
I'm envisioning a top six in the very near future as Thomas, Kyrou, Buch, Dvorsky, Snuggerud and Bolduc. If they can put together a formidable bottom six too plus some needed repairs on the blueline when all the NTC's become modified NTC's, the next window should be open in 2-3 years and should be open for a while.
The only real concern I have is whether Jiricek will come back healthy and not be a made-of-glass like Perunovich. There's a boatload of D depth and a boatload of forward depth on the way up through the system.

Ryan Suter, Jesus H Christ… the defense looks promising in a couple years but this year is looking clusterfukky at best.

I’m guessing suter is 7th dman insurance type of signing.
Trade in the works? Lots of dmen on the roster.

Re: offseason
If it took a 2nd to get rid of Hayes it'll take a 1st to get rid of Krug or Faulk. I'd rather be stuck with them and maybe, just maybe, their MNTC's next offseason include a team trying to get up to the cap floor.
Obviously we're looking at Parayko, Krug, Faulk, Leddy then Perunovich, Tucker, Kessel, Suter, Joseph...I guess Tucker and Kessel are in Springfield this season? Am I the only one who's ready to move on from Perunovich?

Maybe they plan on packaging Krug/leddy with perunovich for another dman.
Grasping at straws as we appear to have 5 viable (whether due to hefty contract or potential) left side dmen. (Per jr)

PuckPedia looks like a very good replacement for CapFriendly. That doesn't change me thinking it's complete bullshit that Washington was able to commandeer CapFriendly.

Re: offseason
I’m sorry for Krug but this is the best thing that could have happened. Move him to LTIR, free up cap money and trade him when his NTC becomes a MNTC.

A little dog days of August action by Army with two offer sheets out there. Broberg I understand and would like Edmonton to not match. The other dude, Holloway, those guys are ready willing and able in Springfield so I don’t get it.

I’m guessing they signed both to make it extra tough for edm to decide. Gutsy move but the next two years are about a reload anyways so might as well weaponize the cap space. Go Doug!

Damn. Oil traded cece. I assume that means they are keeping broberg. Damn!
Edit: The only potential saving grace is they did get a rh d man in the cece deal. Maaaaaybe him and Podkolzin are their plan to replace broberg and Holloway since they will need all the monies for drai and Bouchard next year.
That’s my I’m going to bed hope.

Re: offseason
Love the aggressive, calculated gamble by Army. Cap space wasn't an object, we desperately needed young guys in the system, and Oilers put themselves in a corner looking to compete-win-now and unable to match.
One of Army's best moves in recent memory. Even if it doesn't work out this was a laser-focused savvy move. Love it.

Re: offseason
Via one of JR’s articles, possibly career threatening injury. Too many unknowns. Poor guy can’t even carry his kids up the stairs some days.
I liked the signing a little at first, (I assumed the end of it would be rough) but he’s been a bad fit for the team for most/all of the deal, and I’ve wanted him gone awhile. That said, like jaybo, maybe he’s better if this injury isn’t affecting him. Who knows.
All that said, he seems like a good dude, works hard, and wants to be here. I wish him a good recovery and hope he gets enough mobility back to enjoy his life with his family at the least.
