Collinsville? Curt are you high? F No.

I think they should find a spot in Westport or Chesterfield Valley.

Since it's the "Florida" Panthers, they are playing in their home state and don't have a specific city. I know the Capitals "used" to play in Maryland, but they are in the heart of Washington DC now. Actually playing within the suburbs of a city the team is named for should count as playing in that city, IMO.
I agree. I know that the Capitals are now in the middle of DC, but they played in Landover for a long time. Isn't Landover, MD the same to DC as Collinsville, IL to STL? I would still consider that metro-area enough to consider it St. Louis.

Collinsville is basically cow pasture. Nothing to do there. Not enough to support the pre and post game crowd.

I'd like to see an arena in a place where there is tons of crap to do nearby. I think they could put it right at Page and Lindbergh. It would be perfect. Tear down some of the business park and MAKE IT HAPPEN LEERY!

Well, it's not quite a cow pasture. It's a decent sized city, but yeah, like I said the lack of a serious hotel infrastructure close by would be an issue...however, they are only 10-15 minutes from downtown St. Louis...so it's not a huge deal as far as hotels go. And the area I am referring to in Collinsville (on 157, right off Hwy. 55) is booming, lots of stuff to do...lots of new shopping and restaurants, the convention center, fun park and a water park are right there as well...(but a water park during the NHL season is pretty pointless. )
They do have a few hotels (Drury, Ramada, etc.) there as well, but nothing huge that I know of.

And let's be honest...the only thing close by right now to Scottrade is Union Station, which is a couple blocks away...and that really isn't a place to go after the game. Do you go to a mall after the game with friends? Nah. We're talking bars, clubs and places to hang out/eat/drink/have fun. That doesn't exist around the arena now. And to be honest, that area of Collinsville has much more to offer right now...and they have tons of space to expand.

Maggie O's, J Bucks, Hot Shots, Hooters, and Hullihans are all usually quite busy before and after Blues games.

Even hard Rock.

I haven't been to Union Station in a few years...not since I was in the KFNS hold'em poker tournament.
Those are all at Union Station, correct?

Hullihans is in Union Station (along with Hard Rock) and Maggie's is next door. Hooters moved over to The Plaza where Hot Shots is as well. J Bucks is at 10th and Clark.

My point wasn't about Union Station. It was about all the surrounding 'gathering' spots.

Metrolink is also across the street from Scottrade and it has a stop at the landing.

I'm talking walking distance from Scottrade...not a car ride or a metrolink ride (ugh).
I course there is a lot of stuff to do in the city.

When I saw USA play Canada in Columbus, they have a couple bars right across the street from the arena...that was fun. Drink at the game, leave the game, take 25 steps and you are at a bar. That's ideal.

Back when the Montreal Expos were being taken over by MLB I remember there was a website that was soliciting pledges for the fans to buy small fractions of the team in an effort to keep them in Montreal. I pledged $20 so I would have been about a 1/10000000th owner of the franchise, but obviously that never came to fruition.

If they can't find someone to buy the team who actually gives a shit about the team, we should buy it.

That's why I only mentioned places people walk to.

Hooters and Hot Shots are a bit of a walk in the dead of winter, but I know the Hot Shots has also had a shuttle.

Hell, I wish they'd move out to St. Chuck, but face it...they aren't going anywhere (at least no where in the metro area).

We just need to get a solid ownership situation and do the best job we can spending what funds we do have available.

Fair enough.
But really, my initial point was moving out of the city to improve the financials of the team.
And there was talk of building an MLS stadium in Collinsville, that fell through...just a thought. It could be a nice location.

I have $3.24. When can I start making calls to agents about their client's? We need a (frank) goal scorer.

I can think of at least 15 bars off the top of my head within walking distance of Scottrade.

Collinsville is for having sex with cows, not hockey.

And the day the St. Louis Blues move into Illinois is the day I stop being a Blues fan. Southern Illinois should just secede from the corrupt shithole that is Chicago.

It's better than losing them to Kansas City or Winnipeg.

If that's the case, what has changed from then until now?
Laurie sold the team (after a firesale :( ) to Checketts.
But Laurie really let the team go after the lockout, when we traded Pronger and let Demitra go. We probably had the lowest salaried team in the league that year, or pretty damn close to it. So why did Laurie just give up like that? Did he just not care anymore?
