Great win tonight for the Hawks! Just got home from the game here at 2:15am. And I have to get up for work at 6:20am. Perfect example on why the NHL shouldn't have 8:30pm starts but I'm running on adrenaline right now so it's easy to take. Would have been tough with a loss.

So I overhear a woman in the next cube that works in my group talking about the Blackhawks game last night. I go wander over to talk to the third hockey fan I've met here...

She's a HUGE Hockey Fan!!! This was the second game she watched all season. And didn't know who the Blues were playing or how they were doing...

As I left work yesterday, I told a Hawks fan, 'I hope your game goes to triple OT.'

I'm a prophet.

There's a lot like her out there. When we won the cup in 2010 suddenly a lot of co-workers in my office started showing up with Hawks jerseys and professing their love for the team. But a quick conversation with them revealed they didn't know there were 4 rounds of the playoffs, nor who we played in each round. I even have some close friends that suddenly are 'die hards' who go to a game now and post Blackhawks photos of themselves either at the game or watching from home and how they are glued to their seat. When you win you attract the bandwagon - happens for every team in every major sport. When you lose these are the first folks who flee.

Yeah, I'm not really surprised. I shouldn't be making fun of her for not being as "die hard" as we all are...

We all have to start somewhere I guess, it's just too easy to make fun of bandwagon fans.

Luckily as Blues fans we've never really had to worry about a bandwagon.

funny story - when we had our parade in 2010 I'm watching the news that night and they interviewed some guy at the thing and he's going nuts celebrating wearing a Hawks jersey. And he couldn't name a single player on the team and even admitted as such - and that he was just so excited and wanted to be part of this. It times like that you wonder why the media can't interview a true diehard season ticket holder. Believe me, if/when the Blues win it all you'll have these types of 'fans' to deal with as well.

Blues playoff performance is a conspiracy to upset me. Don't take my sarcasm too literally. We're cool.

But it also brings a lot of people who stick around. One of my best friends growing up never cared about hockey until the Hawks won the cup and once he started really watching it (and I DO know he actually watches a lot of games) he truly really likes our sport now. Although he's a Hawks fan, he CAN name several players, knows a lot of the basics and is just as gripped to the TV watching games as I am. I'm still teaching him but he's gathered a lot in a few years. He's now very complimentary of the sport, how fast it is, how intense it is and how he never really appreciated it the way he should've before.

Moments like that... I'm cool that you're a bandwagon Hawks fan 8)

As to this series I think the Preds are done.

They might win tonight in Nashville but there's no way they win back to back after that. Not against the Hawks.

Just a matter of when but I think the Hawks have this thing in the bag.

Nothing unexpected here, playoff Hawks are just too much for this Preds team at this moment, I didn't think were ever really going to be a force in the postseason. Although, in the coming years, if this core stays together....

Kane came back from injury for the Hawks while Weber is still out for the Predz. That's +2 for Chicago. Maybe even +2.5 considering Weber's importance to Nashville.

What perturbs me about some fans is when they proclaim Neil Emerson to be the greatest Blue ever.

For those who's immediate reaction is "who the hell is Neil Emerson???" you obviously haven't spent any time in flashchat and don't get the joke.

Forsberg with the hat trick as Preds beat The Hawks 5-2. They can tie up the series with a win in Chicago.

It's all over! The Hawks finished off the Preds with a goal by Kaner.

At times they looked quite weak, especially in goal, but they really have that championship drive.
