My opinion of Halak is this:

Dude had one great, magical post season run by beating the powerhouse Pens and the powerhouse Caps and his whole reputation is staked on that. At best, however, he's a 1A goalie, at worst he's a 1B. But he's being paid too much to share duties or to be the backup, so they'll play him as often as they feel necessary to the detriment of the team. During the offseason, they'll be able to dump him on a team that's trying to reach the salary floor and needs an overpaid backup goalie, maybe snag a draft pick. Next season, Allen and someone else (possibly Elliott) will be the 1A and 1B, with Allen learning the ropes of the NHL. The season after, he'll either be the outright #1 or they'll go with a free agent signing or a massive trade for a legit #1 goalie. Blues have gone too long without a goalie who can be the clear cut #1.
