Using hindsight

Post by BamaBlue »

With all of the chatter in last few weeks about Binnington moving on in a trade, I couldn't help but ask a serious question. Using hindsight, and knowing we missed the post season for the last two seasons ANYWAY, having a shot to do over again, would you have shipped Binnington for assets allowing Husso and Hoffer to work as a tandem, and see which one developed into the true # 1 netminder, or let things play out as we did?

I would have stuck to things as it is, but moving forward I'm not totally against trading Binnington. I would have liked to see him go to NJ in the hope of getting the #10 this year but that ship sailed. Perhaps Ottawa? I want to see the Blues move up in the draft and take Carter Yakemchuk. They won't be able to get him at 16 but maybe between 8-12. If they miss out I wouldn't be against them trading down--Anaheim has a late 1st and an early 2nd they could maybe get Henry Mews and/or Spencer Gill which are nice(ish) consolation prizes after missing out on Zayne Parekh and Yakemchuk.

A lot of what they can/should do at the draft depends on the likelihood of moving up and that depends on their willingness to move on from Binnington. The bottom line is this team is devoid of RHD and they should draft accordingly. The two I'd most like to see them get--again Parekh or Yakemchuk, are just outside of their reach unless they move up and the only way I can foresee possibly moving up is by trading Binner or Buchnevich.
