The Guardian Project
Basically, each team is associated with a superhero that is creatively named after each time. The Bruins' guardian is the Bruin, the Canucks' guardian is the Canuck, and so forth. Which means (unfortunately) that the Blues' guardian is the uber-scary, uber-powerful... Blue.
As if Louie wasn't bad enough.
The NHL is rolling this out next weekend over the All-Star break, when the backstory for the Guardians and the comic book stuff will apparently come out. Puck Daddy had a pretty good synopsis of the Guardian Project this week. So read it, then vote: ghey or not ghey?

I don't know if I posted the full image of my signature here, but I'm pretty damn sure it will be more epic than whatever they choose for the Blues.

I went with the David Frost choice...mainly because that was a brilliant option.

Looks like the Blue could have a bit of a limp wrist... which would fit the team lately...Winning Unlimited wrote:is that Dracula?

Re: The Guardian Project
I heard they're renaming the NHL championship trophy to the Stan Lee Cup for this season, in honor of the super awesome Guardian Project. When asked for a comment Gary Bettman remarked, "..we're looking at new and innovative ways to bring respect and honor, not only to ice hockey, but to professional sports in general. The Guardian Project is just the beginning. Oh, and hey, do people really say I look like a Keebler elf?"

I wonder if there is anyone on the planet who thinks this is cool... besides developmentally delayed 7 year olds. (and possibly Bernie Federko)
This just shows how incredibly out of touch the NHL brass are.

Better question is, why does it have tires turned on their sides when it flies?Winning Unlimited wrote:

Looks like a modified flying motorcycle to me. Looks like a Paul Jr. design.

Mind control. Kind of like the way we're all mentally hooked to such a wretched team?

You can tell there was just nothing to be done, so it's just a shadowy figure wearing an NHL logo. Hilarious.

Re: The Guardian Project
I'm hoping that's because the reveal date says 2/21, but if that's the final design it's lamer than I could've imagined. What, nobody wants to sponsor it?ohio BLUES wrote:I like how the Blue is, naturally, all black.
