I really expected there to be a last minute deal. Especially with the "final" offers being traded in the media last night. $6.5M is nothing compared to gap that existed before.

Bettman claims they were not as close as being reported.

I have to find a way to get away from loving the game this much. I've wasted so much time scouring the net...this site and many others, only to teased and rejected time after time. It's a dark day for hockey, but especially for the fans.

Bettman is doing what is best for the game...........the players are a bunch of greedy (Frank).........screw the NHL.......it deserves to fall flat on it's (Frank) face.........

While all parties are at fault, I am just hating the union and the players the most right now. It's their (Frank) greed that's done this. The owners would've been crazy to accept a CBA that would not have included a salary cap. What a bunch of skull (Frank)!

This is the best thing that can come out of the sad news today. Goodenow screwed up by being so unrealistic. It only goes downhill for the NHLPA from here.

Good. By having to cancel the entire season, the effect on revenues may be somewhat greater and the player's paychecks should be effected by it.

Despite everything, I'm glad this happened. I'm glad the owners and the players didn't decide to simply mend the financial problems but instead hopefully now those problems can be FIXED.
Hopefully there's hockey this fall, but, if the sport has to suffer through another year of a strike in order to get the finances in line then so be it...
In the meantime, GO OTTERS!!! Can I be the sponsor of...#55?
