I'm not sure I will ever understand the relationship between England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales as "Great Britain", but they still have their own national teams in sports. When is Minnesota going to get to enter their own hockey team into the Olympics?

Technically it's the "United Kingdom" which makes more sense.

Northern Ireland is nothing but a compensatory territory withheld by the British to show that they weren't absolutely worthless against the Irish in losing an entire island.

So I'm watching the NHL Network's Top Ten program re. offensive performers in the 1991 playoffs and so far, #10 & 9 both featured performances against the Blues (Brian Glynn & Yzerman) and #8 was against Roy. I'm not much enjoying it.

ETA: All right, it's getting better. #3 is Oates and #4 is Geoff Courtnall (if TC were still here, he'd appreciate that one).

So I'm bored this morning and am watching the 2001 All-Star Skills Competition, and apparently Bert Godin was one of the equipment mgrs for the N. American team.

Also, on the pass & score relay (or whatever it's called...it's the 3-on-0 breakaway where every skater has to handle the puck before shooting) and Kariya and Weight were paired on 1 of the relay teams, with Hull. Scored one of the prettiest goals I've ever seen.

It's funny...sometime after Kariya signed here, I was watching an old DVD I had of highlights and whatnot, and on almost every montage of so-called "highlight reel" goals, Kariya's featured several times. I guess he was one of those players I never really gave a whole lot of thought to; he was good, but he was so unfailingly good that you almost stop really noticing after a while, you know? Damn, it's fun to have him here.

Watching clips of him with Selanne when they were in their dynamic-duo prime is just absolutely amazing... they were connected on the same telepathy channel or something.
