Hey, I've already said it wasn't primarily Legace's fault a hundred times...how many times do I have to say it?

In a very brief nutshell:
- Datsyuk put up a big fat goose egg.
- Detroit couldn't score the "big goal".
- Legace could have played better.
- Roloson played quite well.
- Detroit had no answer for Pronger.
- Edmonton seemed to want it more, IMO.

Or...maybe in terms you can understand ----> :notenough:

I guess more than one bullet point when analyzing a series is too much for you to process.

I'm guessing your in depth analysis of that 6 game series would consist of:

- Legace sucked.

Since it can only be one or the other, and not a combination of reasons according to your logic.....I would have to say....

In both cases, it was a combination of the Detroit offense not being good enough and the opposing goaltender playing lights out as well, with the offense being the bigger problem.
And the truth ... shall set you free!

Likewise, it's become very obvious that you're still pining the loss of Legace to a division "rival". I use that word very losely because we're a little far from a rival outside of scope of the series between the two teams in recent seasons, no?
For what other reason would Red Wings fans still be on a Blues board justifying the decision to not resign Legace?

It's not like our team is getting to the playoffs this year, and it's not like yours will do much more than flop in the playoffs again. Though it would be nice, no matter how slim the chance to see the Blues be the team to knock you out in the first round.
Nothing to justify. Red Wings didn't sign him and he sat around waiting for another team to take a shot with him. How many teams jumped at the opportunity to snatch him up. He had a great regular season and people here seem to think he wasn't the problem with the Wings losing. A "playoff" goaltender released with a 2.65 GAA and .885 SAV% (now seen as stats that define a playoff goalie) and nothing to give up to get his services other than a contract. What an opportunity!!

Hmmm, where were all the suitors?
I wanted Legace....and I couldn't tell you why other teams didn't jump at the chance to get him. We heard that a few teams did want him, but he chose St. Louis after weighing his options.
Legace's numbers throughout his career are top notch... and yeah, he had a less than stellar playoff showing with the Wings, in which they ran into a ridiculously hot Edmonton team.

Legace's play since we acquired him, just reinforces what I thought about him before we even got him.

Save %? Bah. That stat doesn't define a goalie.
Save % doesn't mean much as a stat on it's own. You know this. Quality of scoring chances/shots that the team in front of him allows, PP goals, etc. aren't factored into the equation.
Save % quite often applies to the team as a whole...not JUST the goalie. But every case is different, which is why it's lame to use save % as a blanket stat when comparing goalies.

It's a real weak stat...just like when people use +/- as a stat to rate an individual player.
Legace's play this year is no different than it was in his last regular season with the Wings, so its not all that difficult to reinforce what you thought of him.

During that regular season, Legace stole games the Wings had no business winning like a good No.1 should, just like he has stole several games for the Blues this season. There is no denying it and no one has been denying his ability in the regular season. The focus is on the playoffs.

As for stats, it was a joke meaning a 2.65 GAA and .885 SAV% are obviously satisfactory to you. Fine, we have different standards. You don't like the stats (apparently you know of successful playoff goalies with comparable stats, I don't but maybe you're right), so be it.

Yet, you can't resist the urge to keep posting the same thing over and over. And that sounds to me like someone who can really let it go.

Here's what happened: Detroit let Legace go, the Blues signed him, and he's worked out really well for us so far.

By the way, I'm really hoping that Osgood starts when Detroit falls on their face in the playoffs this year. Because I'd take him back in a heartbeat.

Maybe we can work out an Osgood for "bag of pucks" trade. You know how fond we can be of that "bag of pucks" guy around here.

I don't know what the Wings will do next year if they lose in the 1st or 2nd round this year. Osgood just signed a 3-year contract extension...so he'll probably be there for a while.
With as fickle as Detroit is with Osgood, or any goalie, I'd be surprised if he is the starter or even on the team in three years.
If they win the cup, it will be in spite of him...if they don't win the cup, it will be his fault. Same old, same old.

You're finally starting to get it. Once the rest of Blues nation catches on, maybe management will get you the right players to win the cup. As long as Blues fan is happy with someone like Legace in net, well - let's just say it's going to be a long miserable ride.

Osgood earned his contract renewal this year. Whether he is the starter next regular season or thereafter or if he'll ever see the playoffs this year or thereafter is another matter. He'll have to earn that right.

The only reason you defend Legace is because he is on your team now. It's no secret on here that you're the biggest Kool-aid drinker there is. You fail to see the bad in anything when it has to do with your team. I don't know, maybe that's a good thing.
Also, he just wants to argue with you. Which is entertaining.

It amazes me that Wings fans place most of the blame on Legace.
I watched the games...I remember them well as I was rooting for Edmonton.
Legace was not the main reason they lost. That's all I'm saying.
I have to agree with this. Most Wings fans still crying about this just loved the guy (like most of us did) more than they care to admit. Now they are sour he's gone, and gone to the Blues. He's a great guy, a great goalie, you are lucky to have him for sure. I have to wish him luck, even though he plays for St. Louis, because he is such a nice guy. The band-wagoners are going to act pissy, like they don't care he's gone. Like Cujo, I wish only the best for Manny, if that means he plays for the Blues, so be it. He's a class act and deserves a bit of good luck. (unless he were to play for the Avs...then he could suck it)

Down 2-1 with 1.20 remaining in the game, Cleary ties it with a wrist shot and Lebda wins it in overtime. God it's good to be a Wings fan!

It wasn't from a lack of trying. They had 16 shots on goal in the third.
