Got mine the other day.. Only $300 though, I was kind of disappointed as I thought people who made next to nothing (me) got 600.

Sounds like you're a tax cheat and the IRS is hunting you down then.

Now I know what it feels like to be on welfare and be mad when your check is not on time.

I thought i was supposed to get mine by friday also. But after some research this morning, if you used turbo tax , you may be getting a paper check instead of direct deposit. But i elected to pay with my taxes instead of debit or credit for direct deposit. And apparently santa barbara has to set up a temp account to do this and throws a kink in the the whole thing for th IRS. So instead of taking the same route they just send a paper check. I will be getting mine mailed to me by june 9 now instead of already having it.

I don't do direct deposit for a reason. I don't remember the details, but a friend of mine got into some tax trouble with the state of Missouri a few years back. All of the sudden he bounced a couple checks. He didn't know why, but he deposited some recent gambling winnings to cover the checks and it still didn't work. The reason was the state tapped into his account and sucked it dry and kept sucking every penny he put in until they got what they felt they had coming to them. He said they were able to do that because of direct deposit lines of communication had been established. If not, they wouldn't have been able to do that. Something like that anyway. It left enough of an impression on me that I refuse to have anything to do with it. I go to the bank every Friday anyway.

When my check eventually comes, I'm going to try my damndest to not spend it on anything, because they want me to spend it to "stimulate" the economy. I'll keep it in an envelope under my mattress as long as I can... which will probably be about a week because I'll need it to buy a tank of gas.

Next week: bringing wheelbarrows of cash to the supermarket because I need bread.

I went to the local ACE Hardware store and bought some shit, tried to get as much Made In the USA stuff as I could (which is a chore and a half and not always an option either). So far:

$60 on beer (Milk Stout (Denver, CO), Bridgeport IPA, La Fin Du Monde (Montreal, CA), Westmalle (Belgium), Hennepin & Three Philospher's (Cooperstown, NY)).
$40 at Mi Lu Pita in Ballwin (3 Burritos Enchiladas & 3 Coronas)
$80 at ACE Hardware in Maryland Heights (Light Bulbs and Gardening stuff).

$180 down, $420 to go...

Sounds so immature to say this but I am going to get a PS3

I have put it off because I couldnt bring myself to spend that much for a game system. With all the GTA IV talk and the fact that the next SOCOM Navy Seals will only be on PS3 kind of made the decision for me.

The way I see it I am doing ok...no major debt or credit card drama...this is a gift for me. :D

I once dated a mailman who had a dude on his route pull a gun on him when he wouldn't stop mid-route and rifle through the already-sorted mail to hand this guy his welfare check early (like half an hour early).

The sad thing is that I'm so poor right now because of not having had a job for the last semester that I can half understand the motivation.

See, goon has the right attitude. This is what the stimulus check was made for. He buys a whore. The whore buys crack. The dealer buys more bling bling. The Jew that owns the bling bling store can afford vacation to future retirement location in FLA. Travel agent buys kids school clothes from Walmart. Kroenke resigns Sakic. And on and on. All this because Goon was horny. God Bless America.
