I was an admin on here for like 5 years. How can you not remember that?

You also used to send me endless streams of PMs bitching about people.

Uh, and yeah, first of all, that's exactly what I said. My point remains. The day that I drive people crazy enough to start their own forum, let me know.

Do you want to take credit for the rest of the "douchebags" you ran off as well? You chased off a good dozen or so great posters.

If you think you do that without being an asshole, I suggest you re-read this thread where you've been nothing but one. And you've been one because I dislike a PRODUCT that you like.

As for those dozen posters I've allegedly run off. I'm curious, who are they?

I was an asshole because you started mocking mac users calling them all ignorant idiots and teenaged girls. You were an ass way before me. I was being very civil, like I always am. You were being a jerkoff, like you are 90% of the time.

Why am I even talking to you. Get bent.

You know what, I just re-read the thread, and I was 100% civil until you started being a dick. Get over yourself.

Your first entry into this thread was a rude ignorant generalization, followed by a VERY rude ignorant generalization.

Ok guys...are you done?
Let's see if I can sum up the rest of the conversation and save some time for you both....

- OS will be frustrated with some of the things Apple does and annoyed with the Mac users who fall into the arrogant Mac-snob category...Kodos enjoys Apple's products.
- Kodos feels OS ran off a handful of posters...OS would find that hilarious if confirmed.
- Kodos feels OS is being a douche...OS will claim Kodos is being a douche.

Can't we all just get along and be BFF forever?

My advice is to make sure that you buy one that doesn't prompt you to delete everything on the hard drive when you turn it on.

Does that cost extra?

Yes, I do believe you have to pay extra to disable that feature.

Just to throw my two cents into the ring...
I have two ipods, a 4th gen white 20gig and a black 20gig Video ipod (didn't buy either one...got both for free), I also have a 1gig iaudio U2 and my XM Radio inno, which is also an mp3 player.
My wife has an older 512mb white shuffle (stick).

I like my 1gig iaudio and my XM inno the best...and for different reasons.

iaudio (1 gig) : My favorite of all of my mp3 players. The battery lasts forever. I plug it in and it is recognized automatically and it shows up under My Computer as a drive. I can drag and drop songs on and off of it and it acts just like a flash drive. I don't have to use itunes or any music management software. Nice LCD screen...FM radio...holds a lot of songs. Sound quality is great.

XM inno (1 gig...I think) : I can record songs off of XM Radio and I can also drag and drop mp3 files onto the player as well. The battery life is good, but not near as good as my iaudio.

My iPods: What I really hate about the ipods, is that you have to use iTunes or some hack some other music management software to place songs on the things. And I can only associate my iPod with one computer. I have four computers that I have access to between work and home, so it's sometimes a pain in the ass if I am at work with my iPod and I try and manage my music...I can't do it. It wants me to reformat it for that computer. I understand why it's being done...but it sucks and is inconvenient. And if I reformat my computer, that means I have to reformat my iPod. I am sure there are ways around it or 3rd party backup stuff...but it's a pain in the ass. I'd rather buy something else that isn't a pain in the ass.
I never use my two 20gig ipods.

I enjoy the quality of the ipods, they are made extremely well. But I won't be buying one unless they ditch iTunes and make file transfer as simple as dragging and dropping files between folders in windows...which won't ever happen.
iPods are also too expensive (based on what else if available) and Apple has proprietary crap all over the place with them. iTunes is nice to some degree if you only have one computer and never use another machine, but it sucks when you're at work and want to add or remove music...because you can't.

There are many other mp3 players available that are just as good, much cheaper, and much more versatile as far as adding and removing music goes.

Hey, somebody else that likes iAudio! :okman: My X5 kicks ass, except that after about 2.5 years the joystick no longer goes down, so I have to get that fixed soon.

I have no idea what viable windows alternatives there are... but I can do things in iTunes that most people find amazing. I have my iPod synced up to about 25 different smart, self-referential and auto-updating playlists that cycle through my 90 gig music library playing my songs based on rating, last time played, number of times played and overall newness. This is what allows me to have a 4 gig iPod Nano and yet not here the same song twice for months on end. And I hear the newer songs, and my favorite songs at a greater frequency then my less favorite.

If you have your whole library in one place and are fine with that, iTunes is a very powerful and versatile tool.

I often hear Windows users talk about how much they hate it... but I really don't understand where that hate comes from. What are the fundamental flaws of iTunes? Seriously, I would love to hear them.

iTunes is fine as a media player. I don't use it, but I've never really had a problem with it. I don't think Curt's point was that iTunes sucks either, it was that it's stupid that iPods require you to use iTunes and that you can't simply drag and drop music on there.

Which this requirement is typical for Apple's products, but a benefit at the same time.

Most hardware companies might sell you a piece of hardware to use with another piece of software. Apple develops both which generally leads to the product working better from the hardware to the software, and the better overall support.

There's nothing I love more than getting stuck in the middle between a hardware company who blames the software for a problem, then when you call the software company, they blame the hardware. I get stuck with this issue several times a year with different commercial products.

No, having everything come from one company isn't always the perfect solution, but it is nice to have just one throat to choke.

Forget it OS. You are too biased to even try. Return your iPod. Asking you to try and use an Apple product is like asking you to root for the Wings... or be a rational person.

I quit.
Not only have I tried OS X, but I actually like quite a bit about it. If you look back in this thread, the only negative thing I've said about OS X is that it has issues like any other OS. My dislike in this thread was directed torwards Mac Users (who do things like claim that someone who doesn't like an Apple product clearly hasn't used it and/or is irrational in their dislike because no rational person could ever dislike something made by God, err, I mean Apple) and then after having a hell of a time doing what should be a ridiculously simple task using an Apple product, towards iPod. If find it incredible stupid that iTunes asks me to erase all my songs off my iPod. If you think that makes me irrational, you need to have your head checked because it's you that's being biased.
I agree, OS has issues.
