I was pissed at first, but I've already got leads on a few things and now have started to look forward to not having to support this shitty freakin' software anymore. I can't wait to support things that actually work, so that I can rest assured that 100% of all calls or service requests are due to the profound retardation of the end user.
For serious? Sorry to hear that.
Yep. I was sorry at first, but now I'm kinda psyched about it, actually. My boss told me today that I "might not be alone on Thursday," (last day of the month, also my last day there) so that could prove to be a verrrrrrrrrrrry interesting day. Even if they'd spared me this time around, I probably wouldn't have survived the next round of cutbacks. Business really blows right now.

So I guess you won't becoming Mrs. Peter Forsberg anytime soon?
Best luck in your future endeavors as they used to say at my old job.
Do not EVER take your car to Gravois Auto Repair...
My car crapped out on me yesterday.. Went dead like it was out of gas (had over a half tank).. died over and over on me (each time getting a block or so further).. I finally pulled it into the parking lot at work and didn't wanna chance it so had it towed.. Well being as I'm a recent resident of South County I asked a friend for a recommendation who said there was a good place on Gravois but couldn't remember the name (this turned out to be the wrong place). So I had it towed to this location.. They call me at 7 this morning and ask me what the deal was with it htere and I explain the problems.. They tell me they'll take a look and call me back with an estimate of the repair.. I call back around 2 pm (yes 7 hours later) and they say they haven't even looked at it.. Finally around 4:30 I call again and someone says there's nothing wrong with it (you know, cars just die for no reason).. I get there to pick it up and there's a charge for 60 dollars.. I may only be 23 but I've been to several shops who told me there was nothing wrong and not once was I charged.. Much less when they told me there's nothing wrong when there CLEARLY is and charge me 60 (Franking) dollars.. 9 hours of waiting to go "Gee... I dunno.. That'll be 60 bones, please?"
F*ck them and anyone who looks like that stupid **** at their register.

That's pretty common with mechanics. Be thankful you didn't go to a dealership, or it would have been $160. All cars have a "check engine" light these days. If it comes on, it could be anything from a bad sensor to a blown head gasket. A dealer will change you just to hook up the code reader even though O'Reilly Auto Parts will do it for free.
Bastards. It's almost enough to make me buy a bike, but not quite.

I felt it shaking on me while idle yesterday like it was gonna die but it wound up not.. I know it's gonna crap out on me at some point, just playin the waiting game now.

The exact same thing was happening with me not even a month ago. Except finally it got to the point where when I started the car, it would not idle unless I revved it up a ton, then switched it in to gear quickly. And when I would get it working, the car would putter on idle like it was going to die, but it wouldn't. I ended up having to get a new fuel pump. How old is your car?

It's an 01, but has over 172k on it.

Then it could very well be the fuel pump. Mine is a '95, but it has 180k on it.

I'm pretty certain it is.. I talked with a friend's dad who is an insurance adjuster and knows about all this stuff and told me it was almost definitely a fuel issue and i'll probably need a fuel pump.. The thing is I knew I was getting a huge paycheck today and I was going to save most of it to buy a new HDTV, but now I'ma just keep it in the bank in case the other shoe drops.. Did yours die a bunch, then was okay, THEN die for real?

Yeah, that was pretty much the case with it. I had to call AAA one time because I initially thought it was a battery issue, then it got to rights. It started progressively getting worse, then I finally took it to Firestone when I figured that my car wouldn't be able to get there otherwise if I actually decided to turn the car off.
My car has had so much work done to it in the past year that I'm sure I'll be able to have it for another decade since it's essentially a new car.

Yeah the crappy thing with high mileage cars is it seems the more work you put in them there's always SOMETHING else that can break.. This car has been really good though in the last year i've had to start putting some work in it.. I drove to Oregon and back last summer and pretty much had the AC on for about 5 full days, then when I got back the AC compressor died about a week later.. That was about 700 bucks.. Had to replace the battery last winter now this.. Hondas are built to last but even they start getting hefty repair bills at 170k+.

My 1995 Taurus had a similar problem, but it wasn't the fuel pump, it was an oxygen sensor. It seemed to be worse when it was hot and humid. The oxygen sensor was pretty expensive for such a little thing, but it was easy to fix.

If you don't, I guarantee it'll go out at the most inopportune time.
Okay spot me the 600 bucks then.
I'm savin right now.. Don't quite have that much scratch, but after next paycheck I should have enough saved to cover the cost.
Maybe if you spent more time working on your resume and finding a better job instead of spamming up this place with your crappy posts you'd be able to afford a better car, numbnuts.

Yes, tool. I'm a socialworker.. It's not exactly a profession you go into for the paycheck. And I like my car. It runs very well but it's got a lotta mileage so it needs some repairs..
And how do the unemployed get off criticizing the employed about how good their job is or isn't? Hypocritical douchebag.

I'm not unemployed, you pile of shit driving moron.
And you're a social worker? Watching derelicts and drug addicts for 8 bucks an hour to make sure they don't smear their own shit all over the walls qualifies you as a "social worker?"
