Who the hell would we want from Toronto? Kaberle would be a nice addition, but we already have a log jam in the defensive department. Surely, they wouldn't give up Kessel after forking over a boat load of 1st rounders, would they?Eklund hmm..from a source in Toronto..."I would keep your eye out for the Blues. For one, we are talking to them again. Surprised who is available."

It's from Ecklund's Twitter. So, take it as you will.

Re: Trade Speculation
Surprised who is available on Toronto or surprised who is available on the Blues?
Would it be a surprise if our captain was available?

Fact: Brian Burke is stupid enough to want to trade for Eric Brewer.deadphish wrote:I want at least 2 dirty jocks for Brewer. NO LESS.kodos wrote:Surprised who is available on Toronto or surprised who is available on the Blues?

Or maybe they are interested in Backes? They wanted Stempy and we probably could have gotten them to trade for Soupy years ago.dmiles2186 wrote:Fact: Brian Burke is stupid enough to want to trade for Eric Brewer.deadphish wrote:I want at least 2 dirty jocks for Brewer. Re: Trade Speculation
I always find Eklund rumors not worth any thought, but around the interwebs, it is being said this Leafs/Blues rumor was mentioned on NHL Radio prior to Eklund saying it.
As for the surprise, maybe the Blues are looking to unload Kariya. Do the Leafs have the cap space to take him on? The Leafs could probably take the chance on getting more scoring on that team. Just a year is left on that contract.
But...trade rumors are rumors. They never usually amount to anything.

Re: Trade Speculation
I edited/deleted that after I realized that rumor originated from a poster that is questionable. He allegedly heard that on the radio, but his “hearing things on the radio” has been questionable in the past. So I don't know if I would put any stock in that.Sweetred95ta wrote:Fu(king Murray.SIU LAW wrote:I think more than one place has reported that Kariya was unhappy here.

Who has reported that Kariya is unhappy?

Actually, I am ok with dealing PK. PK and our illustrious captain to the Lightning for Vinnie C?

Re: Trade Speculation
Everything points to Brewer being traded...when that happens I don't know, but with the log jam on the D corps, I wouldn't be surprised if Brewer is gone by the end of the year...And it isn't just Eckland saying it. Strickland is hinting to it as well...for what it's worth.

Re: Trade Speculation
I have never had a problem with moving Brewer. For the past couple of years, he has just looked bad!
That being said, I think the Blues are on the cusp between just bunch a guys and a future contender.
Would Vinnie be the difference maker? I am not sure, but at least it gets rid of Brewer and opens up a spot for movement for the defensemen.

Re: Trade Speculation
Why would we want Stempniak back?? We need an impact scorer. Kessel is the closest thing Toronto has to that, and I would say he's untouchable.

Re: Trade Speculation
If we're giving crap we're going to get some crap in return. But that trade is worth it for Kaberle alone, and I'll bet Stempy will produce again when the spotlight's not on him so much.Sweetred95ta wrote:Why would we want Stempniak back?? What is the difference between Brewer and Kaberle?
Age, type of defenseman, etc...

Re: Trade Speculation
Anyone consider that Petro might be a tradeable asset ? Let another team burn a year on his contract if they want/need him in their lineup. We get Kaberle and maybe Brewer gets AIDS or something.
