How many points would we be out if Mur was still behind the bench?

How safely in the playoffs would we be had they fired him sooner?

Tonight could not have- literally- gone any worse.

Wild, Stars, Predators all win, and the Blues lose.

8th place didn't get any farther away but with as well as the Red Wings are playing, it might as well have.

If 93 points is the "magic" number, Blues need 11+ wins to do it, with 13 games left to play. I think we're done.

Unless the Blues go something like 11-1-1 over the next 13 games and having a couple teams struggle the rest of the way...we're done.
Hell, even if we do that, we still might not get in.
Pretty simple...the last two games were games we needed to win, and we didn't.

Right now I'm a huge Calgary Flames fan. If Detroit finishes 9th, I'll be giddy.

This. I'm on the "anybody but Detroit" bandwagon. Anything we can do to help them stay out of the playoffs is good for me. :detsucks:

We out too many points, the season is over. The ax fell too late on Murray. If they were trying to be courteous and let him keep his job through the holiday season, it was an epic fail.

++ On lets go Flames.

Schedule doesn't help either.

Blues road games in NY and NJ on Thu and Sat.
Nashville home games on Thu and Sat.
Blues at home vs Nashville on Sunday.
Which team will be more rested in the Blues "must-win" game?

I was holding out hope, but it looks very unlikely given the f'in ridiculous schedule which featured way too many 5-day breaks. How in the F does a team have a 5-day break after the Olympics when the league has been off for 2 full weeks???

Scheduling looks like a setup for the future when Buttheadman claims the Olympics screwed up the NHL schedule so much, we can't afford to let NHL players play in the Olympics in Russia. Meanwhile, the ridiculous number of 5-day breaks had nothing to do with the Olympics.

We are still in it as of right now. 7 of the last eleven games are against opponents directly above (1 to 3 spots) or below us. If we can steal these points off of these teams there is still a chance. A very slight chance but it's still too early to throw in the towel. After our game vs. :detsucks: then we'll know a little more.

I'd actually say the game against the Nashville Predators will tell us more. Making up points if you give them to the team ahead of you is a good way to end your season early. 3 games vs them is bigger than one game against the Bloody Flat Tire.
