Maybe we should change the team name to the St. Louis Happies. Its hard to complain about hardship with a franchise named for a musical genre that pertains to hardship. In fact, it may even be the source...

I'm only 25, but I've never seen anything like this. 50% of our opening day skaters have missed time now, and w/o checking, I think each of those 9 missed at least 5 games.
2 silver linings though:
1. If we can somehow hold on and sneak into the playoffs, we can do some damage, if healthy, even from a low seed.
2. Ian Cole is probably up here for good if Johnson is out for the year as I have heard. That should make him even better by the start of next season than he would have been had he played in Peoria the majority of the year.

Pietrangelo skated Thursday and could play Saturday ... Polak appears to be the next closest, with his re-evaluation set for early January. Oshie isn't scheduled for his re-evaluation until mid-February. McDonald and Perron are considered out indefinitely, until their concussion-related symptoms disappear.

Well at least it looks like most of our D will be back soon...so we won't be giving up 5 goals each game.abc789987 wrote:Per JRSTLADOGG wrote:Great news! Oh yeah absolutely can't say enough for what Polak does.glen a richter wrote:Polak was the key loss, there. Followed by Perron. Without Polak, the defense is a bunch of lost little puppies. If anyone on the team should get a cap circumventing contract, it should be him.

Re: Who gets hurt next?
I'm practically convinced that these injuries are an inside job, in one way or another. I'm not sure if its by the NHL or the Blues themselves, but it's got to be some kind of ploy. The Blues were playing extremely well, number one/two in the whole league, and now we suck again like last season. We actually had a playoff chance. But, my guess is that the NHL doesn't want the Blues to be a top-contending team just yet, so they forced the Blues to fake injuries and give AHL's a chance to prove their worthiness. The NHL wants to keep Detroit at the top. It's all for marketing purposes, folks.
Or, it can be a completely different circumstance, where players on opposing teams are told to take out the Blues' most elite players.

I know hockey players are tough, but good lord these "concussions" have lasted a damn long time... If this was the NFL people would be ripping Perron apart...
